There are far far worse 90's cars though, I came from a 421 bhp Saab 900 to my Type R, what a difference.

No doubt that there are much better cars, but are they more fun?

Chav I'm not , I turned 40 last year ..... Petrol head yes , chav no.
I dont sit on here bleating how good my cars are compared to other marques
I see a lot of people on here slating cars they havnt even owned....I make a comment on the cars I have owned.
Was the rs any good.........yep , really nice car to drive , got loads of attention (only 2 in Doncaster) was it the best car I've owned....errr NOPE.
The best I've had was the m3csl .....and to be honest I had to buy a cat d one as I didn't have 25k in the bank and I've never had finance on a car as I can't keep them long enough.

So that should be the spoilt mummy/daddy bit be out of the way
Calm down fella, i dont have any jobs for you im afraid, but good referance

You guys need to chill man, its all in jest. Im having a bit of trolling fun for once which i do occasionally and this thread seemed perfect.
Its always owners of said car being discussed that get the hump.

So im supprised at slim tom

I've seen one tidy classic in Doncaster and that was 'dazdavies'.....I did try to have a play with him but couldn't get by him , he had a modded classic and the rs was standard.....he was impressed (I was sh1tting bricks thinking I was going to die)
Yup it was,I don't feel the need too prove something everytime I'm behind the wheel of my impreza like some.
Next time we could have a race then I could post a really mature road racing thread about how I beat a focus

I don't think anyone who has commented actually owns an rs but the ones who are getting offended are impreza owners

I'd like to have an RS with our beautiful locally produced five cylinder Volvo engine But would still keep my Type R in that case.

These threads do make me laugh, its like no other car is allowed to be quicker than an Impreza...4WD this, 2WD that blah blah blah.

I'm pretty sure The Stig piloted the FWD Focus RS around the Top Gear test track a shade quicker than he did the WR1.....Both cars were still over a second slower than Megane R26-R which is also FWD.

yes but that was a wr1 which is basically an sti, he didnt drive the supercar slaying wrx.

according to **** matt it should be around the 1 minute mark, somewhere near the veyron due to its better gearing and arbs

Yes the RS is expensive but in the 2 years ive had it, its probably worth a very similar amount, i bought my Scooby 12 months old and its value plummeted over the 2 years i kept it.
I love the fact that people love comparing there 330bhp Impreza WRX against a standard 305bhp MK2 Focus RS try it against a Focus RS thats had some tuning, as there not all standard!!!

Lol, I found this thread funny, purley because you were sticking up for the RS hence I thought I'd have some fun.
The rs is capable tuned I know that, and I do know you have a soft spot for them from your visit at nbo.
I couldn't give a rats **** monkeys which is better tbh, I just buy a cheap capable toy and leave the expensive stuff for my daily drive.
These threads always do go 1 way and it's always against from the forum cars, just like if this was on a rs forum the scooby would get slated.
But if I did have £20k to spend on a car, I'd choose something else, but everyone has their taste and choices.

It's just fun, some people need to stop being defensive on their cars, it's only a car ffs.
But you've got to admit, it is a funny thread

P.s I've got a rusty classic

Modern hatches have left imprezas miles behind in speed handling and interior quality!
All the imprezas has to help it too 60 faster is 4wd!

Some people do use them as Dailys though, more the RS as its newer, more refined and upto date with the other new hot hatchs out there.
Maybe if I was young and single with no kids then I'd be all over the hot hatches.
So for me I'd choose a cheaper olternative for the weekend fun (as long as it's capable once tuned I'd blow the modern hot hatches )

I appreciate all marques and the RS is a great looking car and is certainly quick. I just couldn't justify borrowing that amount of money to own one. Its not that I can't afford one (and thats by no means meant to sound like im ***** wavin - I mean hp/finance not out right cash) but the way I see it is I spent a little over 3k for a clean, rust free, and forged v3 sti, which I can have just as much fun with, and Its not cost me the earth to do. I certainly don't think my car is better tho. Its an ageing old sti
Maybe a better comparison would be a classic impreza and the escort rs cosworth..
Out of interest how come they didn't make the FRS 4wd?

Because its easier to keep it fwd the shell is just a focus base shell they put bigger qtr panels on they could of easily done an awd as the kuga has awd and the same 2.5 engine

Surely a better comparison would be an impreza of similar age and value.

Which one would come out as the better car then chaps ??

The new sti would destroy the rs from the off. The rs and st are only good from a rolling start in third gear it's where most it's torque is

How much are these RS things these days, mid 20's ???
Pretty sure you can pick up a CS400 for about that now, I know which one I'd choose.

They might be a great car but god they look awful, you'd think someone had covered a focus in tiger seal and driven it through halfords for christ sake. I know an impreza is far from subtle but come on....and then they paint them lime green...
