Lol, that's actually a fairer debate.

Focus St is equvilent to a hatch sti, so the RS would be Cs400 lol
There's no comparison really both standard too.

As the thread was comparing to an old £1500 classic with a couple of mods whooping an rs. (Which is quite laughable)

So, as the RS is a better 'all round package', how does it compare to a mazdhyundai CS400

Has anyone seen one of those kit cars that's powered by a bike engine, you can see them for sale on pistonheads.
You can get them pretty cheap and will go like a rocket, so does that make them even better than a Subaru i mean there's nothing to them but that doesn't seem to matter right, just 0-60 time's.

You must of missed my earlier post where I mentioned that the RS was a shade quicker around the Top Gear test track than the WR1 which comes in at 315bhp.....So how could a 265bhp Blob STI eat an RS for breakfast as you put it?

Even with PPP taking the Blob STI to 305bhp, it still wouldn't be quicker.

Pretty sure you can pick up a CS400 for about that now, I know which one I'd choose.

They might be a great car but god they look awful, you'd think someone had covered a focus in tiger seal and driven it through halfords for christ sake. I know an impreza is far from subtle but come on....and then they paint them lime green...
You have said all you need to in the first part......value
How much was the cs400 new
How much was the rs new.

The ford is an over priced piece of tat simple it's a focus that's it look on YouTube if you want you will find loads of videos of an impreza beating an rs there a 400 bhp rs versus a classic with 300 and the focus gets left I'm sure you don't take top gear seriously

So you're saying random video's posted on Youtube of idiots racing on a dual carriageway is more conclusive than a timed lap on a test track?

Actually if you would of done your homework you would of found that the impreza wr1 was faster round the top gear track than the rs anyway plus ford only send the mountune cars to top gear so the focus was 350 bhp

I've just done my home work.....The RS got round in 1.29.3 and the WR1 was 1.29.4.

.........but now you're telling me the RS used was a 350bhp Mountune car?

Many of us on here have Imprezas running well over 400bhp, some far more; I have one of them, and when one of my friends bought an RS I had no trouble leaving him for dead. Unfair comparison of course as his car was bog standard.

He had the RS Revo-tuned to 385bhp plus a mass of torque, with ASTs and AP brakes to suit. Although his was still down on power we were now more evenly matched, but my car still had a clear edge. Unfortunately the RS was no longer any use at all down B-roads, spending more of its time airborne than in contact with the road surface. For sure there is a limit to what you can do with FWD, however cunning the system, which is why all truly powerful factory builds feature 4 x 4 or RWD, never FWD.

My friend considered that he had actually ruined the RS and eventually got rid. He now has a Litchfield-tuned GTR, which is most impressive and the boot is now well and truly on the other foot.

This is all still very subjective.

To me the "Best Car" is my WRX Wagon PPP and I really don't give a toss what anyone thinks about it, it's almost perfect for me, once I have fitted my PCA Dynamics springs (this week hopefully) and done the classic alloy wishbone mod, I recon it should be just about perfect.

I would feel such a prat driving a lime green focus rs and wouldn't have one for free. Looks worse than a Blob STI which seriously takes some doing, Really does look like it's ram raided halfords, and imo is the height of chavtastic, couple that with it basically being useless on anything other than bone dry roads, you seriously could not get me to swap the keys of my WRX for one, regardless of what they're worth I can't think of a more frustrating and embarrassing car to own, other than a blue Blob STI.

But hey that's just my opinion.

Exactly.
Surely you understand that just because it's your opinion, it doesn't make it fact.

That's what you don't seem to understand.

wrong as usual, as ive said many times its just my opinion, im fully aware im on scabbynet where if you dare to mention the impreza is not the best car ever made you will get wrx owners crying everywhere.

i couldnt care less if im right or wrong or if anyone agrees, i love the r.s. focus and consider it a better car than an impreza.

doesnt mean i want one or dislike the impreza so dont get too upset

How can you consider the RS better if you've never owned one? To form a valid judgement you would have owned both and then made a choice. Furthermore you love the RS but wouldn't have one?! That doesn't really add up, if you love it why wouldn't you have one?
Or are you as per usual doing a poor impression of Darcus Howe?

why do i need to own one to consider it better, ive never owned a ferrari enzo either but i could pretty much guarantee its better than an impreza.

i like the car and think its better than an impreza IN MY OPINION, which is just that an opinion.

as said earlier i dont want one and if i had 20k i would buy one either but this doesnt stop me liking them or am i not allowed to like any other car than an impreza as its scabbynet?

Quality lol.

Anyone remember that episode of top gear when jezza bought a five grand kraut barge and it developed a fault that cost many thousands to put right.

While that pos was sitting at the side of the road you could probably go out and buy a cheap rally rep for the price to repair the panza wagon and drive past smiling and waving

Integrale last wrc season 1993 two podium finishes.
Impreza first wrc season 1994 finished on podium in all but two events and won twice.

I know, as road car it's probably like comparing apples to pears and your entitled to your own opinion, but I don't consider it a million times better.

I would still love one though
