Not too bad, you can save 200 with an O/S map rather than ecutek, your preference and cambelt is usually 5 years or 50k so how long ago was yours done?

trouble is I would like Duncan to do my remap on the road as opposed to rollers so don't know where I stand having service and parts fitted then see if Duncan will come to Norwich to road map???

interesting point on the cambelt, done 10/1/2010 which was 23,000 miles ago

Further update, been learning recently that is pays to shop around... gave AP tuning a call in norwich and asked them for a quote completing the same work as Clive's, came back with...£396 inc VAT to fit all performance parts and conduct full service, remap will be done by Duncan at £350 so all in £750, seems pretty good as I'm supplying everything. Also being quoted for Cosworth cambelt change.

That seems a better price, but if your not drag racing your car you don't need an uprated timing belt.

That's more in line with what I would expect. Nice one, saved a yourself a few quid.

Let it be known (especially when I come to sell the car on here) I never intend to drag the wrx or launch it, rolling starts only will an OEM timing belt be enough for around 280bhp?

The plot thickens...now in touch with Tim Farmer the mobile mechanic looking for a quote to do the same, read nothing but good things so worth a shot, said he will give me a call later with a quote

Yes, it will be fine, my cars have all run standard belts and have been tuned to 300-350 bhp and no worries at all. It's the shock that goes through the belt if your launching it that can snap the standard belt. I use the Gates belt, heard they make the oe one from Subaru being one of the major manufactures.

Tim came back with a quote of £300 to do all the work and he comes to me which is really handy as I can then meet Duncan for the map after...shopping around really does pay off...next stop POOWWEERRR

Can't argue with that. Convenient, competitive price and competent mechanic.
