On a different note, UN Watchdog reports that the ISIS are recruiting mentally challenged vulnerable children as young as 7 and 8 to become suicide bombers and killers:

The horrors of the evil continues.

Oh, ok. Sorry, I just found it on line.
I do not justify it, but I can see what makes ISIS target the vulnerable. To be honest, kids or adults, they have to be either warped or mentally challenged vulnerables; in order to willingly partake in something like that. Physically threatened and mentally tortured if unwillingly forced to partake.
Don't know how on earth they can justify this

Like all good religious people , if you promise them direct path to heaven , if their situation is appalling enough here
They'll do anything
This is the value of keeping the faith

Many Christian anarchists practice the principles of nonviolence, nonresistance and turning the other cheek. To illustrate how nonresistance works in practice, Alexandre Christoyannopoulos offers the following Christian anarchist response to terrorism:
The path shown by Jesus is a difficult one that can only be trod by true martyrs. A "martyr," etymologically, is he who makes himself a witness to his faith. And it is the ultimate testimony to one’s faith to be ready to put it to practice even when one’s very life is threatened. But the life to be sacrificed, it should be noted, is not the enemy’s life, but the martyr’s own life — killing others is not a testimony of love, but of anger, fear, or hatred. For Tolstoy, therefore, a true martyr to Jesus’ message would neither punish nor resist (or at least not use violence to resist), but would strive to act from love, however hard, whatever the likelihood of being crucified. He would patiently learn to forgive and turn the other cheek, even at the risk of death. Such would be the only way to eventually win the hearts and minds of the other camp and open up the possibilities for reconciliation in the "war on terror."

I've been reading a book about life in medieval England. In those days, the majority of people were under 40, and most of the fighting men, right up to the king, were spotty youths, fuelled by testosterone and with no older and wiser men to moderate their behaviour. Usually, wars were based on either the quest for land, or religion, or both.
That seems to be the case with ISIS. You have a load of discontented youths, with a perverted version of Islam fed to them by charismatic (and probably mentally ill) 'preachers' as their justification, going on uncontrolled bouts of extreme violence.
The ISIS method of warfare is almost impossible to fight against as you don't have an identifiable army to attack, or cities to bomb, as was the case in most of the 20th Century's wars. Consequently, they've been very successful so far.
However, once the nutters have achieved their 'heaven on earth', they'll find there are more fundamental problems to deal with. They've got to eat, provide housing and infrastructure, and they'll need to trade with other countries for whatever natural resources they lack. And I think that might prove their downfall, because who will trade with them?
They can't keep attacking more and more countries to get what they need because they'll start to come up against proper armies with virtually unlimited resources. I can't imagine Mr Putin thinking about surrendering to them, for example.
I've no idea what the answer to this is, but if ISIS think they will end up with what they want long term, they need to think a bit harder.

Neil - I've yet to come across a religious zealot who, if they were thinking rationally, would behave in the way that they do. I'm open to being proved wrong though.
JT - I doubt that Islam tells its followers to do what ISIS do, so I assume someone is perverting the religion from its original aims. If I'm wrong about that, I apologise.

If the worlds entire Muslim population subscribed to the twisted ideologies of ISIS/Taliban/Al-Qaeda et al, there would be a much bigger s**t storm going on, would there not?

...much like the Crusades...or The Inquisition...or Slavery...or The Holocaust etc...all instigated by hate filled bigots with an unreasonable fear and paranoia of 'The Other'.
"What have the Muslims ever done for us?"

I don't know, all I do know is that it is sad to see one of the worlds major religions being hijacked and used as an excuse to indiscriminately murder innocent people for the vanity projects of uptight, misguided psychopaths...
