I can't believe that a forum that had so many decent members would fall apart like that, it was one of the best car enthusiast forum I had been apart of... Sad times 😔

I agree it is a real shame the site closing but in the name of fairness
I have met a number of the people that ran the woc and have a lot of time for them, they are descent people who genuinely wanted to offer a good club.
I don't know and nor do l want to know what went on in the past twelve months.
It may not have been the right thing to close the site without warning nor explanation, but l feel sure it wasn't done without consideration
The people who were the mods gave a lot of their time to try and run it in the best way they could, perhaps we should be thankful they did or the folk posting now may never have made contact with one another.

Like Alyn I was also about to renew my sponsorship of the site having been pm'd to ask if I wanted to.
It is sad it has come to an end, I am sure that those members of the new site that had posted technical info will make that available again.

It's very sad...been a member for 8 years and it's all gone... priceless nostalgic historical threads from a time when the car was born which you won't be able to replicate even on the new site..
Very sad.. i assume the owners just thought they tried there best and it wasn't working so they pulled the plug no different to any other business that can't handle the drama anymore so I suppose u can't really blame them.. the fact that we had so much good facts an threads on so many cars on there an now its gone i think is the owners way of saying a big "f u" parting gift to the people they are annoyed with im assuming? I was hoping both sites could have worked together but maybe the owners didn't want that or saw the VERY LOW post count that I was witnessing after so many members had left and thought why bother it's time to shut down.
So sad... il join the new site happily but it won't ever be the same as how do you replicate 13 years of database..

Hi All
I hope I am not talking out of turn here, but I thought it would be good for me to post here to update people.
The WOC was closed as we had an increase in requests from people that started up the new site to remove historical threads, we have no issue with the information being on 2 sites, but to copy it from one and then request it be removed from the original site wasn't really fair play.
We aim to have the WOC open again soon, with a new team in charge.
We refunded sponsorship that had been paid, in full, as we felt it wasn't fair on companies to hold their funds whilst we are going through a major transition, when the site is back up and running then the new team members can be approached if you wish to continue your relationship with the WOC.
I understand everyones frustrations, we probably could have done things a lot better, but this was carried out to preserve the history on the site and give a clean break between old and new teams.
Unfortunately I cannot give any time frames for when the WOC will be back up again, I don't have access to 'the button' anymore ;-)

I am pleased to hear that the WOC will return , let's hope it's had a clear out and fresh blood take the reigns .
Being one of the founders of the new site we are happy that a few of the admin and mods are viewing the site .
We didn't think it very mature to put redirects to other sites , as the WOC had practised before they closed . Let's hope those involved in that childish behaviour are no longer connected with the WOC !!
Here's to both sites running in there own way with no animosity

Probably more beneficial to write that on the front page of the forum you've shut down for no real valid reason apart from chucking all the toys out of the pram.
Probably a handful of members have asked for project threads to be removed which isn't particularly a big deal as they are on the new site. To add to the fact that they are their threads if they want them removed then that's up to them.
I'm pretty certain that a handful of members that were pushed away to start a new forum are not responsible for every single historical thread on the WOC.
These members aren't the issue the Mod and Admin staff are the issue and even when those members leave you still manage to destroy what I class as one of the best forums out there.
Give yourselves a pat on the back.

They don't want to own a car because of a forum ....... you sure. What is wrong with people. He will sell up then someone else will buy and sign up to the forum and life goes on.

We were hoping to have this all sorted out a lot sooner, but unfortunately there has been a bereavement in Robs family and he is dealing with this, so I am taking over the transition.

first read this and was shocked by some of the comments , but as it stands there is life in the old dog yet which is pleasing,
Dave who has brought the site?
also pass on my love to Rob as ive just lost a family member also in the last month so can only begin to know what he is going through,
one thing i would say is i dont know the in and outs as im an outsider,
but when you delete content you dont like because its "off topic" or you want to keep another member of the admin team "post count down" by deleting their posts,
or you delete post's about a site sponsor ripping people off.
remember you cant turn round a say its my site your posts are owned by the owner/site , the information is that of the posters and not the site!,
so if the relaunch doesnt go to plan maybe open it up so people can get THEIR OWN information back!!
the two sites can quite happily run side by side one for social meets , tours of prodrive and the much hated BANTER that ruined every thread that was posted on woc etc etc ,
the other online only , but still with great info and useful facts ,project threads and of course the heritage of being there from the start.
easy really

I know that a lot of people do not believe us here, but Rob, myself and the rest of the team have only ever wanted what is best for the site and its users. We felt that the way things had gone recently meant that we had to look at how the site could progress better and this is probably the best course of action for all concerned.
The team have put a lot of effort into running the site and certainly without Robs initial idea and hard work, there may never have been a site that has been able to get so many people together in one place and collected so much information.
We are human, we all make mistakes, I have certainly apologised for the ones I made so I hope we can all focus on the future of the WOC and give our full support to the new team and move it on. I am looking forward to what can happen as I have been on the site since day one, still own my P1 and would be lost without the site.

Dave
I certainly believe what you have written
I am sure there will have been things said and done by a number of people that have led to where the WOC has found itself.
Sadly you can't go back in time, so need to move on get the site back up and running and let things settle down.
