What diameter exhaust do you have is it 2.5 inch like the 2ltrs? If it is H&S told me anything over about 370 and they start to struggle.

405bhp, could get more but the injectors are on the limit so would need changing.

When you have finished with the mapping you do a power run which is recorded and put into a graph.

Wish i bought a more expensive turbo now lol...Anyway its all running good, maybe i will upgrade the turbo in a year or 2...
I recently made 398bhp on a 2.0 with a Harvey Smith 20g. Cost me 450quid with 200 quid spend on a billet conversion.

I did change injectors though... and went FMIC, to be fair.

Yes it's a 2.5 inch exhaust, I may upgrade it when I get another turbo ...

You can easily run 400-450 on a 2.5 inch bore with all the supporting mods , Fmic injectors decent turbo not your sh$te , iv told you it's not the bore size .. I asked about your down pipe as you hadn't stated it in post 1 .. Open 3 taping down to 2.5 is fine for your projected 400..
At the end of the day if you haven't forged the internals I would replace your turbo with the stock 43 as you can't run much boost safely anyway so there is no point in expecting miracles ... You may find you have a massive bill ahead if that China special fails on you tho .

Good luck...

Yeh it's got forged Internals, I'm happy with the way it drives so I will just swop over the turbo when I get a new one .....

I've heard a lot of good things about these turbos, what do you think it would make if it was on high boost?

Its only down to the turbo I thought, the other comment I made was that it could have a subtle air leak somewhere as the airflow into the engine was not what I would have expected to see, its not normally possible to get 400 bhp on pump fuel from a 20g, and not wise to do so if the engine is a standard 2.5 litre.

The turbo's are very cheap though !

Hi Bob yeh it's got forged internals, I was expecting around 380bhp with the mods I had (see post 1) but the turbo struggled to make decent boost , I have spoken to Kinugawa and they advised that it should make around 1.7 bar of boost but only makes around 1.3 bar... Probably why it is cheaper ...

Pretty common to see crap results from their turbo's im afraid, was a post a couple of weeks back where one was supplied with the wrong oil feed an it killed itself.

There cheap for a reason, the odd occasional one seems to do ok, but you seem to hear about poor results than good results.

Buy cheap, buy twice

Yeh I wish I bought a more expensive one now, I'm looking for an MD321t or h , I think this will get more power, I might post it in the wanted section ...

regardless of the turbo i think i would be happy with the power it made ..don,t understand why you kept the standard exhaust when theres so many decent second hand ones going about from breakers on here at half the price from new ..

heard theres a few subaru garages using them turbos now .

The main thing is the car is running nice and making decent power, BUT! you probably could of made more power on your standard vf43.

I kept the standard exhaust as I do a bit of motorway miles and don't like the loud drone that many of them make, also I was advised that the standard 2.5 STI exhaust (decated) is good for up to 400bhp?
