Look, I haven't been on this forum long, I don't want to get off on thw wrong foot, I appreciate your concern I just really didn't like your tone. I'm not an idiot and although our personal preferences differ in terms of styling I understand the risks that are always there when buying a car. I have agreed a price of around 25% off as it's trade and if the engine compression check and block test goes well, and road test is good I know a fantastic bodyshop that my friend owns who can do anything that needs doing. Just need to check there is no filler on the car and that should be fine. The car will eventually be a track car in cape town in 3 years anyway. I really hope it does check out ok. It's a long walk back to London!!!

Fair play I say mate, you've got the skills and knowledge and your not paying 10k for it.

It's always a roll of the dice buying second hand, but at least you seem to have the dice loaded in your favour.

If your going in with your eyes wide open and your in the trade, IMO it's slightly different to some mug off the street that didn't even look at the tyres and brakes before he loaded his family in handed his money over and drove off into the night.

Oh and welcome to the forum, we're a decent bunch for the most part.

Happy to report the car is safely on my drive, 250 miles down and all good. It drives really well, pulls like a train and I have receipts for everything done to it and all of it was done within the last 12000 miles. I will be honest with everyon, the bumper could do with a repaint, the lacquer has come off the offside door mirrors and there are a couple of chips on the spoiler. The dashboard has been covered in a weird black velvet. I will be honest it looks terrible! A couple of screws are missing from. The centre consol and just needs a bit of Tlc. The calipers have been hand painted which really anoy me! That needs to be rubbed down and will have them professionally painted. Clives performance is a large warehouse, I arrived there and he was running late to meet me, he turned up in r35 skyline about 10 minutes late. He does seem genuine, and I didn't have a problem with him At all. Opening the warehouse I have never seen so many evos and scooby. They went back at 15 rows and 6 across half aren't even on his website. The car wasn't cleaned to the standard I would when selling a car but to be honest that isn't something that bothers me I wouldn't walk away because of it. O tried to get more money off but he quite honestly said, It doesn't matter to me if you buy it or not. I will keep it maybe sell it maybe keep it. I did the get the impression he doesn't NEED to sell! Whivh isn't the best postion for the buyer to be in!!
it.

Yes definitely! A lot of people would have been put off I know but to me I like doing little bits and bobs and would rather do them myself. So the dash fits with no modifications at all?? That's a great result. Will be looking for a new one now!

Well done mate - You got a cracking spec car there at a good price by the sounds of it! What people seem to forget is they are buying (in your case) an 18 year old car so you will ALWAYS find nigglies on cars half that age never mind as old.

And strangely for someone selling cars didn't need to sell it. What's all that about?

I have seen flocked dashboards before....I think it is what they had in mind....just didn't pull it off!! Will get some pics once I have cleaned it properly, re dyed the carpets and upholstery cleaned inside and polished the car. I am really happy with it though.
