Oh and I totally agree about new cars, booooooorrrrriiiiiiiiiiinnnnnngggggggg.
I agree with you but if you had x4 higher disposable income, you could feel the same for a S204 as you feel for the WRX now so it's all relative

Use it and not worry about it, it's only a car at the end of the day.

I have had the money and still do and more to certain extent in the form of property, and I bought 2 cars for a total of £13k, some of us would just rather spend our money elsewhere, cars aren't a priority for me.

Where did I say I wasn't interested, stupidass!

There is a difference between liking a particular car for what it does and being obsessed by it, i'm more of a function over form kind of person, if I really cared about cars as much as some on here I certainly wouldn't drive a Subaru.

not always an issue,

when I was young and lived at home we could get bodyshop deals,

I had a brand new 2003 leon cupra r otr price £19,995

I had the car for 3 years with payments of £290.00 pm it was a 1+35 deal,

after the three years the car had 22k on the clock, and I bought it off them for £6k ish selling it on for a little more.

was cheaper than finance or a bank loan,

would I do it now, if I had the disposable income yes, do I have that no! haha

Just seems nuts, why bother?
If you care that much about what people think of you, but surely people who know you will know if you can afford a £35k car or not!
Ah well, each to their own.

Sadly a lot of people do worry and buy crap they can't afford it bothers them so much.
The whole reason this thread is here is because somebody laughed at an impreza

I've lost count of the amount of tw@ts that have been up my ar$e trying to race me...... I find it quite amusing and occasionally can't resist showing them a clean pair of heels.
Regardless of opinions the impreza is still much loved, sought after and still pretty much turns heads everywhere it goes.
Of course we are all aware of the stigma attached to them but I got over that a long time ago.
So in a nutshell just drive it and enjoy it, if it breaks pay the price get it fixed and get over it.
I've never thought the impreza looks cheap or expensive, it's just a car !

I shot through a "private" tunnel recently with a cupra for company with a few pops and bangs along the way, stopped at the next lights and he looked over with ears bleeding with an I've just been f@cked up the ar$e kind of look on his face !

Priceless !

German cars are the most boring cars ever made, i literally have to stop myself from falling asleep whenever i drive them.
With the odd exception from the M series or the C63's.
I find peolle who arent really that interested or clued up about cars are the ones who love German cars, okay build quality is generally pretty good, but that doesnt make them any better to drive and enjoy?
Imprezas are one in my eyes, they tick so many boxes for a car enthusiast.
My Fiance has an EP3 Civic Type R, i used to have one too many moons ago and i must admit they are also bang on the money for performance, enjoyability and cost, far better than anything German and boring!

majority of people on here haven't driven well sorted german cars though haha

I had a leon k1 310bhp with a few subtle handling mods, sold it bought a spec c and tuned that, sold it and bought the k1 back of the guy I sold it too,

while the spec c put the power down, and went round corners the k1 was a better, more fun drive

its all personal opinion, I now have a a4 2.0tfsi avant, its well built, quick and reliable,

do I want another impreza god yes but common sense is telling me to stay away now, age, rust and price are all determing factors. and in reality 300 odd bhp in a scoob now a days isn't that quick

This is very true. Boring daily for the work trips and an impreza for all the weekend joys. Although understand that running 2 cars can be expensive

Lets be honest here...Does anyone actually care what anyone else thinks...I know i dont, lol.
Mine get used at weekends and whenever i want to nip to the shops in style, My van just wont cut it.
Is it just me but i do about 40k a year with work(contractor) and doing all those miles you inevitably get tired behind the wheel....Not once have i ever been tired behind the wheel in my Impreza and that included a 12 hour trip home from the ring too...Some cars just make me fall asleep and have no personality, lol.

A M series not boring??? Im guessing your on about M3 or maybe a M5, there not really that exciting, yes they are quick in a straight line, but you can say that about most new sports cars, they have no driver involvement, and there all now designed for someone with not much driving experience to jump in and be able to drive it fast, gone are the days where a fast car you would need the strength of the Hulk to press the clutch and put up with hard suspension etc, they drive themselves(they even automatically put the handbrake on for you when stationary)

My Golf R is fast, but with the DSG box it's no where near as exciting as the Impreza's ive owned, Same goes for a lad at work that owns a 997 Carrera 4S, Ive driven that plenty of times and with the autobox its so boring and with the sports exhaust its still not that loud(compared to a Impreza with a big jap can) and the dash looks old for a £50-60k car, a bit of a let down as it was my childhood dream car.

If you want excitement, Go and buy a sub £5k Impreza STi classic, this will give you so much thrills for not much money, but great if you want to drive it fast for a few hours, but not really great for anything else!!!

You are totally right, M cars are not massively exciting, but people who have no idea what a proper sporty or exhillarating car is to drive automatically think M cars are the one, but they are not.
I was just meaning compared to golfs and other german rubbish then the M series BMWs are more exciting.
I do quite like the E46 M3 though, and the old M5... Both quite good fun cars.
Neither though compare to the enjoyment of an Impreza STI, although i am a big kid at heart !

Indeed. A neighbour asks you how much you bought your car, you reply 5k and they are surprised at how expensive it is, yet they drive brand new cars on lease which they don't own.
Now you tell me what is more expensive
