There is no mention of it here... http://www.sti.jp/product/impreza/list.html

A few years ago a guy on the RA Forum living in Japan investigated the car via sources at Subaru....It was confirmed there is no such car.

Me too and I like the front end and 3 piece splitter too, I even made it "better" for sticking to the road and then took it back a few steps as it was more fun closer to factory spec, when they handle too well it kind of takes the fun out of it trying to kill you.

I'm not into racing so I don't care what's out there that's faster, I just want to have fun and play at the limit of grip.

Still not had a classic yet, it's on the cards as a stripped out fun car but only Bug, Blob and Hawk so far, either an RA Sti or WRX or a Type R.

Having owned most Scoobs, inc an S202 that is now happily living with its new owner on the Isle of wight I can comment.
The S202 is one hell of a car I loved its out of the box rawness and unique sound with pops and bangs oem.
My recent drive in an S204 blew me away this car isn't just about fancy seats its a very special individual drive that is so planted and well setup from the factory, its high speed stability is insane the suspension spring rates and damping are magical, they got it bang on with this car.
Anyone who thinks they have driven the ultimate road going Impreza needs a blast in one.
It was intended as Japan's answer to the M3, the build quality is much better than a normal scoob the attention to individual detail makes this one of the best cars I have driven it oozes instant confidence and impressive feed back to the driver.

I drive spec C s inc a 16" Motorsport edition regularly and have a well sorted Chevron setup car myself and I know from a drivers point of view what that 204 is about it cannot be dismissed as the best road going Impreza to come out of the Sti factory

There was never an Ra version of the Type R why would people think so ??
Ra stands for race altered, the Type R is a specialist model in the line up.
Type R is what it says,no need to give it an Ra title it's really that simple .

Some were convinced of it's existance, there's been a few threads on here about them, some thought the WRX Type R V-limited was one because it had a similar model code and a roof flap.

On the Type RA forum a few years ago the thread came up for discussion again and one person living in Japan approached Subaru with the question who denied it's existance, but some still know better and believe they exist.

From what I remember regarding the conclusion to the mythological Type R RA was, a Type R shell was fitted to a Type RA chassis, hence the RA model code.

There are lots of mysterious RA models that Subaru themselves have never heard of, there's one for sale on Facebook at the moment but it looks more like a "Halfords Altered" car.

Wasn't just us that noticed it then, it was different back in the day when the general public didn't have access to auction sheets, Too much information out there now...And unfortunately it doesn't look like a one off or typo now either?

R stands for Retna which was what all the 2 door models were called, even the 2WD 1.5's.

I also prefer the early dash. I owned a MY95 WRX for 6 1/2 years and 70,000 miles. Now I have the facelift classic dash in my V5 STI RA Ltd and even after almost 5 years I still reach up for the electric window switch where it 'should' be
