I had a vent lever snap at 90, it made a fookin horrible loud bang and the coach bolt head made a nice dent in the roof. I then had to order a replacement handle from Japan that cost a bomb and took weeks to arrive.
I would guess even if the handle didn't let go driving at 130 with it open would bend the flap, root cause of wind noise and weather proof issues maybe?

Plastic goes brittle with age so failures have to be expected. That doesn't mean they are designed to do less. They were designed for rally cars and I don't think noise or weather proofing was a big concern, but equally, it doesn't take much to bend the handle back if it does stretch when you crack 130mph on a stretch of private road

Had my flap open over 130-140mph (airfield) without any problems but I brought mine brand new so no chance of it being brittle or worn

I would like one on my GC8 Track car, for use on hot sunny days.
Has anyone else had problems with them at speed?

Also can any one point me in the direction of where to get one.
Thanks

You can often pick up classic ones on Jap Performance Parts or eBay; the newage are bit more difficult to get and often end up being bought new from Japan.

It might have been your mate who i asked or even the owner before that depending on how long your mate had it for.
Where would I look on the log book to see if the registration plate could be transferred/sold.

Not sure if the V5C shows any details like that, It might be worth dropping the DVLA an email or phone the retention department directly and see if can be transferred would be my advice.

Fitted more of these than I care to remember.

Fantastic but if kit. If locked open they're safe to 150mph, and yes I've done it.
Anyone who says they don't do anything has never had one. And to be honest if it makes any extra noise, who knows. My transmission is noisier than any slight wind noise. Although I've never heard anything through one with it closed.

Great addition to any Impreza and because it's a proper oem part, it fits properly unlike most of the crap on the market people love to bolt on.

If anyone wants to fit one, I'll even show you how you do it.

Sorry for the old thread bump.

Where do people buy the vent kits from? as the link in one of the posts in this thread no longer works?

Only kits I can find in blue are £600 from RCM
