To be fair, my 06 WRX actually has a clutch chirp noise occasionally when pulling away up hills. It's had it since new and still running the original clutch on 68k miles and 334bhp so I can't complain. Nothing to worry about at all if it's the same as mine.

I plan to do the obvious things; drive it try all the gears, brake, check for damage, check service history/hpi/write off status, check all switches work, doors lock, doesn't smoke/leak anywhere, rust on the arches, panel gaps and so on. . . .
Lol, I wouldn't even look at the history, just have a poke about and a half decent look at it, then go for a drive and see how it feels, if it's got to 120k someone had to be looking after it, if it feels ok then just buy it.

I just bought a cat D MG ZR with no history for £640, I always take em as I see em, it's the only way with old cars, it made it the 80 miles to my house so thats good enough for me, history file as long as your arm won't make it a good car.

Default Thanks to everyone for the help . . .

. . . .I now own the car, so far so good and the 200 miles home were fine as have the few miles around Newcastle been. One thing I have noticed is that even though its the wagon and even though I'm not hammering it LOADS OF PEOPLE always want to race you/get passed you and tear away from the lights.

I assume its not just my face that makes people do this and we all get this?

I've found this too, as a new Impreza owners. It seems everyone wants to race. Its sometimes more fun to not bother, safe in the knowledge that you'd walk it.
