You wont have to wait too long, he'll be gone by lunchtime.

A good night all in all, was it ever in any doubt ? the country saw sense and the right result came in.

So we are rid of three ****** in one hit can we get the full set and offload the sweaties as well ?

Assuming i understood correct, conserv now has majority (3 irish mp's never show) and only 1 more required for a full majority even if they did show

Pffft. I'll take a hundred Tory Governments if it means the total failure of UKIP... which it is. One MP?? What happened to 50? 30? "Dozens"?

They couldn't even hang on to 50% of what they had.

Correct, they only actually needed 323 seats to take overall control.

You've been reading too many newspapers to call them racist and homophobic

Having an Australian based points system for immigration isn't racist for one

They are choc full of racists, bigots and homophobes. But really, it doesn't matter what you call them, because there is only word to describe them now:

"Irrelevant".

Don't - we're used to that Chris. Fortunately we have our own Scottish Parliament that deals with the more important day to day stuff like NHS Scotland, Educaton, the law, etc and comprises MSPs more representative of the Scottish vote.

A lot of Scots are pretty happy with the way its all panned out. As a Country we rejected Labour. As a Country we embraced a party that will represent Scotland better than any other.

Clearly the SNP had a finite number of seats to win. Had scotland wanted a labour Government in Westminster, Scotland would have voted labour. Scotland didn't and that says it all.

Milliband is hiding behind the "Scottish Nationalism defeated Labour in Scotland line". It wasn't Scottish Nationalism that defeated Labour. Labour lost it pretty much by themselves, and they knew it was coming.

Scots are not daft - Scottish Labour really is just a branch office of the larger Labour party.

We were always going to have to put up with a Government in Westmninster we didn't elect. At least now we have elected representatives who are not just someone's bitch.

We'd have gladly gone had it not been for Cameron and the rest of the better together scaremongers being terrified to let us

Well put and best of luck to you, the English would do well to look at the Scottish and take some inspiration rather than the p1ss

Ha, what the fastest growing party who have increased their percentage of the vote massively since the last general election, and had pre election polls not shown it neck and neck with labour and tory would've likely ended up with at least 3 mp's (threat of labour/snp clearly made many ukip voters vote tory to ensure that didn't happen)

Even before the election ukip have had a huge influence on other parties policies.

It's great to see the liberals wiped out, and ukip will only grow further from here!

Not so in Wales where the Cons had their best results for over 30 years gaining 3 seats whereas labour actually lost a seat, unusual in Wales. Up the valleys though you could stick a red rosette on a sheep and they'd vote for it

I wouldn't waste your time with this Trinity... those you are trying to preach to don't care about fairness and logic as long as they get the result THEY want!

Oh I know, but they used the phrase the 'people have spoken' which in fact would change the actual statistics if that was actually true

Hope they don't become disabled anytime in the future....its quite quick how thoughts can change when faced with situations unknown to them

They are already disabled mate In all seriousness though that is exactly it... all is great with the Tories if you have a good job, care about no one but yourself and your immediate family and have no need for any help from the state in any way shape or form.

I voted for our local Tory MP Again. He's always replied to any letters/emails I've sent in and things do get done with his help if you exercise a bit of patience and determination to follow things up. Obviously what happens in Gloucestershire affects me more so than Hull on a day-to-day basis and I'll vote on the basis of what I see happening at a local level rather than what is being peddled throughout the papers. We've had our council tax bills frozen for two or three years now and we haven't suffered too badly with mass-housing developments, although that is inevitably going to change and is a necessary evil that the local Council can't do an awful lot about save for deciding where to actually site it.

We've got a Lib Dem Mayor and, whilst I still think he's way too young to be taken seriously, he is proactive and doesn't appear to garner too much negative press.

Whilst a lot of people might get swayed by the big names on TV, there is way more to politics than that. You only need to plonk yourself in a Parish Council or Town/County Council meeting to see that. The petty bickering happens there too and there are definitely councillors who are there for all the "wrong" reasons, but it is genuinely the only route to go down to get heard properly and make any changes to the area you live in.

My vote may not necessarily benefit people outside of my region and I get that but I'd be voting against myself if I had voted any other way at this moment in time in the place that I live in. That vote is completely open to change should anything arise that changes my view.

Like them or loathe them, but UKIP polled over 4 million votes in the UK.

That's probably twice as many that as voted SNP up here in Scotland to get 56 seats in Westminster.

UKIP will not go away and will do much better in elections where PR is in place.

It's a good point, i'd like to know the total number of votes for SNP that got them all those seats.
