I've just had an anti-UKIP leaflet by Labour posted through my letter box! One of the bullet points on the back claims "Labour will get tough on Immigration!"

Crikey Nigel Farage is going to be the first indirect Prime Minister.

For me immigration isn't fundamentally what attracts me to UKIP, I believe most European countries mirror UK culture so they aren't really an issue (Extremism in all it's various forms is a worry but I guess all parties will tackle that by default) ...so tweaking immigration laws is just a bonus.

What really sold me is they used to list tackling anti-social behaviour as a main priority (not sure if they still plan to vehemently tackle it though)

Also:

Free NHS parking (biggy for me)

Free NHS (Again a biggy)

Abolish plans for new housing estates on greenbelt (I'm sick of our countryside being eroded and villages becoming "towns.")

Abolish HS2 (superfluous)

I do believe the UK is over-populated and immigration needs to come down to under 100,000 but personally, and I suppose sensationally, I think long-term the world should adopt a mentality that having more than 2 kids is taboo. It could be set to a start date of around 2030 to avoid social stigma of currently having more than 2 kids and this social courtesy would sit right up their with not having more than 1 wife or not practicing an incestuous/beastuous* relationship.

Easy. I hate nasty reactionary politics.

UKIP appeal to the worst in us.

Ever wonder where all those BNP supporters went?

Thing is, Labour just lie to everything to try get in power, and then screw the place up for 5 years destroying everything in its path.
Then you have the Lib Dems who literally live on planet cuckoo, honestly have any of them ever come down to earth? Seriously, imagine if those donuts ran the country...
The Tories normally get my vote but even they cause so much greif.

Finally UKIP have come out saying what so many normal UK citizens are thinking and can relate to, and seeing as no other party can do a good job, of course UKIP are going to gain floods of fans. What did you expect? It was bound to happen sooner or later.

I think they all got sick of Griffin's growing white supremacist angle, homophobia and climate change denial.
I can remember him once claiming something bizarre about toothpaste.

The fears people have about change via UKIP only mirror the fears people have about changes brought around through mass immigration or the up-rise in Islamists/the radicalised. It's certainly swings and roundabouts.

The noticeable thing in the media is as more immigrants enter Europe most EU countries are seeing Right-wing political parties come to the fore and pressure groups like EDL or PEGIDA become more commonplace. I suppose well documented events fueled by ISIS, Al Queda, Taliban and Boko Haram etc etc have universally but at differing levels made people wary about multi-ideological society. EU residents running off to join terrorist factions or groups like Sharia4UK/MDL don't help the mistrust or integration refusal fear.

Martin, can you also explain your stance on Australia as it is today and racism please? To help you please remember 27% of Australia's population was born outside of Australia as opposed to the mere 8% of the UK's born outside of the UK.

If you look at rankings of 'most racist countries' Australia is right up there with the UK

The thing that I don't get about this argument from UKIP is that they aren't saying let's spend the money better, they're just saying we should ignore our international (and moral) obligations, and spend much less.
I hate the way our overseas aid budget is wasted, we should be spending that money so much more effectively. If they said that then that would be incredibly good and worth listening to.

They have said that. Have you even watched any of the debates?
What do you thinks going to happen to the foreign aid money saved... Go in their own pockets??

Of course not. Only the tories, labour and lib dems would do that and class it as expenses

"UKIP will target foreign aid at healthcare initiatives, inoculations against preventable diseases and clean water programmes with a much-reduced aid budget administered by the Foreign Office."

"British organisations will be offered the contracts to deliver the remaining aid following removal of the EU Procurement Directive."

I have a feeling UKIP will be like ditching Carbs for Fuel Injection.

We also have a NATO obligation to spend 2% on defense. Only UKIP aim to meet that obligation.

Not sure, they've all but disbanded, no 2015 Manifesto afaik. One thing is for sure the Left ought to thank the high heavens for UKIP as they have massively watered down any growing vote potential for the harder edged parties such as BNP, LibertyGB, National Front, JPF or Britain First.

But their policy is not to spend our current budget more effectively is it?

Farage is on record on this - he's a denier

Now he's trying to sound moderate, like on many other issues.

I've made the same poll on Detailing World forums. Results are turning out pretty much the same as SN's poll and not everyone owns a performance car with extra disposable income to splash. 30+ votes and 50% of those to UKIP. Maybe it's just people who are into cars?

Yes, this is my worry

And his weasy words on maintaining a "free at the point of use NHS, based on need"

Are so obviously not what he believes, I am amazed (well not really) that anyone takes him seriously

As I said - when people like Farage appeal to the working class vote in a cynical attempt to get power - things always end badly
