For the most part the propaganda has worked. I read an analysis that said that in the 2015 election the Tories INCREASED their vote share amongst the unemployed! Now that is clever politics.
In times of economic hardship those most hardest hit at the bottom of society always turn to the rightwing political parties (which seems a bit counter-intuitive to me?)

That's how that nice Mr Hitler got in.

My inherited family, gawd bless'em, are a little like this. Even my eldest who is visiting them next week said "that's going to be me for a week "

It's amusing to listen to their discussions. There is this all powerful, all knowing "THEY"

They haven't paid my money properly
They haven't signed off matey boy so not getting any money
They haven't been round to fix the boiler

I'm not sure who this "They" is but they sound, inept

Another absolute classic is why they voted Ukip (of which there were many but as they are miners with memories as long as a canary's, they could never quite put the cross by the blue fella) which, quite clearly was to stop the immigrant worker from stealing their jobs. The jobs they don't want, the jobs it's not worth them going to because "they" will pay. The jobs that trouble those ever problematic lower back pains seemingly widespread in epidemic proportions amongst the career sick.

Sooner they are all sent of to the colonies the better, what what!

Without wishing to derail the thread, I can see this as a legitimate concern. Some jobs out there do pay so little that some on benefits would actually be worse off to take it, unlike our EU friends who would (and do) jump at the chance for a £5/hr job with no chance of making that kind of money at home. If there wasn't an infinite supply of cheap labour, these jobs would have to pay more, even if it does mean 20p more for that Cappuccino in the coffee shop.

I would suggest the greater portion of the blame lies with the benefits system here rather than the cheap labour. If the benefits system was restructed with commensurate savings then the knock on may well be an affordable rise in pay for lower skilled work.
At which point the workshy here should be forced to work, thereby lessening the need for immigrant low-skill labour. Unfortunately not easy in practice due to societal constraints that for the most part didn't exist 30 years ago.

As an aside what I really don't get is why so many people don't realise the value in work, whether that be cleaning or banking. Being pleased that whatever you have, you worked for it and paid for it. I might add that I don't like working, but appreciate the outcome, and therefore continue under duress of sorts.
