Made worse than what? Apples and pears more like, you cant compare it to the likes of the A45 or RS3, they are at a different level/tech and more to the point much more expensive!

The new STi is a VAST improvement on previous Subarus. And in my experience just as good if not better than the Golf R, S3 and co. To be honest i didn't even like the A45 in comparison, although its a missile performance wise. But that's due to personal choice as i hate the flappy paddle boxes and the overall look.

The problem with Subarus since the Classic is they made them heavier and more refined but didn't give them the power to match, apart from the Cosworth which doesn't really count.

Electronics don't impress me, I like to be the one in control of how fast I can go, having attempted to drive a modern Audi in anger there's no way I'd ever drive a modern car where I can feel it stopping me from driving it properly.

Bio; you're a fat loser who probably an IT geek.

You'd never dare post a photo which proves it. And you've been utterly butt raped on here recently by a few regulars which is hilarious.

I'm in bloody good shape and like a huge percentage of blokes, haven't got much hair; so what? Does it worry Jason Statham or Bruce Willis?

At least I have some testosterone you shandy drinking gay boy.

Utter bollox. Has anyone on here actually met you?
Apart from making an utter tit of yourself on numerous threads, do you actually contribute anything? Do you even exist? I'm beginning to suspect not.

Just another tiresome troll.

Rumour has it that the haldex system will also be revised in it's setup. TBH though, I think it's the Golf R420 that's going to blow them both out of the water.

It's the in-gear performance where the grunt is needed, which I suspect the 5 pot is delivering more of in the shape of mid-range torque, over and above the standard A45. Which to be honest is what we were expecting, with the extra capacity.

But being realistic, even against the current A45, the in-gear times are pretty close. There is .1s in it on the 60-100 range, but things are being opened up within the 62-124 range, having a .8s difference.

All this competition is good for us, the consumer, imo.

All Audi will do is then produce the RS3 Plus.

Which will then be followed by the next A class model and A45 AMG.

It's all good.

The tuning potential that the engine in the 45 has, should put it in a good place moving forward. Assuming that they improve on their transmission set-up.

MB / AMG have been quite ballsy to date, with the A45. Alluding to the fact that when a competitor beats their performance, they'll just turn the wick up. We'll have to see if that happens and whether it transpires to keeping them ahead.

This whole super hatch sector is going to get quite exciting over the next 5yrs I suspect.

Still has to sting a bit, only 1 year and the A45 has already lost its crown to Audi as the most powerful superhatch

The A45 has been out just under 2yrs. The next facelift model with added sauce is due out this year. That's a reaction imo!

This is the car industry, especially in a sector that is growing very nicely. What do you expect.

Of course, I could say that your MY15 car doesn't really get much of a mention nowadays. It's accepted amongst the masses now, that it's yesterdays news. Let's be honest.... how much chatter goes on here, the largest Subaru community site in EU and Asia, about it. There's more action (new cars) in this Other Marques forum.

MY15 has a crappy 2.5 engine, hence not even worth mentioning. If they improved the 2.5 block added some decent internals and released with 350bhp with the scope for at least 100BHP more

yea and then it would be 40K+ like the mercs or audis, which is not Subaru's market.

And what is Subarus market nowadays?

It's a mere shadow of it's former self, hanging on to a prehistoric platform and its past glory. We all know what happened to the dinosaurs.

They've literally bought nothing new to their market since the hatch.

It is in Europe but in the U.S. The Outback is the third best selling car.

http://www.autoblog.com/2015/01/04/s...s-2014-record/

Yet in the UK they sold less than 3,000.

TBH the Outback now has a much hated (in Europe) CVT 'box in the petrol models which puts me off the new one. Plus the top engine is basically the same as our 8 year old Outback - a 2.5 165bhp petrol. A shame the 3.0 H6 engine has gone.

Yep exactly, the UK just isn't as important to them anymore when most of their sales are in the rest of Europe, Aus and the US. Shame really as the small allocation of new STi's that did come here sold like hot cakes.

To be fair, I think the STI still does well in the U.S. Which is probably the reason why they don't think they need to develop the platform. The EU is a tad more demanding.
