Sports mode is ok on the A45 but i find if you put your foot down and then lift off a touch it tends to leave it screaming its nuts off rather than changing up. I much prefer manual mode, although i very rarely turn the T/C off

My 335i does exactly the same thing, I end up having to override it with the flappy paddles.

This is obviously HIGHLY subjective, but interestingly I went to the local Audi dealership yesterday to see an RS3 in the flesh... I had the other half in toe.

As soon as the other half saw the car she immediately said "That looks like a family car..... it also looks old manish. In fact with those roof bars, it looks like our Focus Estate!".

I laughed at her trying to explain a bit more about the car (justifying what it was lol), but she wasn't having any of it. Her opinion had nothing to do with my thoughts, as I had never said what I felt about it.

In all honesty her reaction and comments are what I think in general about many of the Audi range. Quite dull in some respects, but it's each to their own and we all have our opinion, and what presses our buttons.

Obviously like me, my mrs is a chav!

I saw a grey S3 hatch/sport back and thought similar: apart from the daft quad pipes it looked very staid.

My oldman has a white 2012 S3 and I think it looks fantastic (albeit in the flesh) inside and out, agressive from the front, low slung side on, yes a bit bland from the rear, when following it looks purposeful, but I might be a bit biased I guess.

That's the older shape which looks better IMO.

Which looks more sporting in 3dr guise, without the gimpy rear 3rd quarter side window. When you couple this with roof bars on the RS3, it tends to look utility like. Not a good look for a range that has the "racing sport" moniker imo.

Scratch my issue with the roof bars. They're an option rather than part of the minimum spec.

That's what appeals to me about the RS3, I like the old manish look

Test drove a RS3 last weekend, fantastic car and sounds great. Would have bought one but going to wait for the saloon.

The press reaction seems to be "better than the last one and very fast but still not great."

The ad shows how far Audi is prepared to go to try and tame tragic understeer...

I found my BMWs understeered more easily than my Audi until they were modified to stop it. It seems they set them up a bit safe.

Hi,
We were lucky enough to get an invite to an Audi track day - got to drive the S3 and TT Quattro.
My wife and I were both a bit underwhelmed by the S3 (which is only sold as a saloon in our market) - but both really enjoyed driving the TT.

Cheers
Steve

Whilst that may be accurate, what is it that makes me think the guy is sponsored by VW and was somewhat biased?! Reading through the comments, it seems I'm not alone.

I'd still take the Audi. Don't think the 3/10ths of a second around blah blah track would be at the forefront of my mind as I was jumping in the car heading for sainsburys.

So, the general consensus is it's fast, but doesn't feel it.

Typical Audi then.

Bioforger,
Permanent/proper 4WD is quicker than Haldex set-up in pretty wet track conditions shocker!

You'll be telling us next that a tuned car is actually faster than a standard equivalent.

A 4WD system and chassis setup as per the Subaru IS better in those conditions for outright grip than a front wheel biased Haldex system..... that's sure for **** "standard".

That's complementing your grenade on four wheels..... not slagging it.

On the RS3 video, the chap said the car can divert all the drive to the rear wheels. Assuming someone has/will come up with a drive system controller. Be quite interesting to be able to make it RWD.
