Looked at both, both great classic's, I went for the P1 based on the fact my dad had one when they first came out and it reminds of the better days, I will never sell it so couldn't careless about the price differences or making money on it.
It was purchased solely with my heart and great memories, I couldn't be happier with it, every time I get it out the garage after weeks of not driving it I cannot stop smiling.
Why so called Subaru enthusiasts slate one another's cars is beyond me. Do Ford enthusiasts do the same?
Can't speak for Ford owners but every community I've ever been a part of has the equivalent of this. Porsche 968 owners debate endlessly about whether the Clubsport is worth the extra money; M owners likewise about E39 vs E60 and E46 vs E92 vs F80, and don't even get me started on the 911 air-cooled versus water-cooled debate.
Every make has its beards - it's all harmless banter at the end of the day and it gives something for people to talk about (even if it is mostly boring and repetitive).
We all have different reasons for buying our cars. I'm sorry we don't all agree with your opinion of both cars in question. You obviously don't like P1's. That is your choice, I'm soo pleased we don't all like the same things in life. As i said in my first post. Both great cars.
lol, just becuase you prefer one over the other doesn't mean you dislike the other lol
your the one who was being generalistic about people not being able to afford them, now your getting stroppy because someone has a different opinion than you?
I'm not getting stroppy matey, it's not in my nature. I don't get why people say the P1 is soft. It is a very capable fast point to point road car. Over the years this discussion has gone on and on and on, to the point it's going round in circles. And over the years, a lot of the comments have come from people that haven't driven either, or can't afford either. I am not pointing my finger at anyone that has commented on this thread. The two cars in question, are tweaked for different reasons.
Honestly there is no comparison the type r is a unique model with its own running gear, the P1 has the sti version 5 4 door running gear just with different suspension.
P1's look better, fact.
Type R's are better if you want it for track use.
I like my cars to look awesome, sound awesome, be quick and keep them immaculate with perfect history, and im not one who does track days so P1 would get my vote.

Both great cars, you tend to find, people who slate either model, A) Haven't ever driven one. B) Can't afford one. End of. Why so called Subaru enthusiasts slate one another's cars is beyond me. Do Ford enthusiasts do the same?
