What a waste,

If you want to invest 20k in a Subaru,

Go halfs on a 22B,

The proper 2 Door.

Knowing what they want does not mean they are in the know

Anyone with an idea about the different models etc would know that £18600 plus premiums is utterly ridiculous for a P1.

final cost 19.5k and this car was in need of TLC

you'll find its the other way round, only tend to find odd special editions have higher values.

compare similar age cars eg import sti classic vs uk turbo and sti will be more money, add in a type r or ra and they will be even more money.

p1 is just a watered down type r aimed at uk roads, soft suspension, smaller rear diff, longer ration gearbox. Add in the words 'special edition' or 'limited edition' and a fool and his money is soon parted lol

All that watering makes the price grow and grow, uk roads is where most P1s will be driven so it will perfectly set up I should have worded it better, why is the P1 always higher priced than the 2 door import.

The same reason a UK 22B is worth alot more than a JDM 22B.... rarity. Us brits love a limited edition or something built to a set number and some are willing to pay way over the odds for it.

Put it this way, you could buy a super clean, low mileage stunning type R for under 10 grand. Surely common sense would tell most people that a UK version of that model isn't worth double...

Don't get me wrong, I like the P1, I think it's a good looking car and i get the whole "built for UK roads" thing, I just don't understand the reasoning behind its inflated price when a type R is as good, if not better and can be had for half the price.

I had the choice between a type r and P1 and i chose the P1 and i think i made the right choice if prodrive thought DCCD was meant for our roads it would be fitted also with the diff and suspension but its not, if i was to change any of those parts its certainly wouldn't be anything from the type r can't have a P1 drop below 10k.

Was retained on the rally car which suggests it's about performance. So p1 is less if a performance car than a type r

Hahaha

Prodrive chose to remove those parts but decided to leave the JDM ecu in place and not map it to accommodate our fuel....

what a complete load of bollocks... theyre all money pits and all have a subaru badge on...people will be arguing over tread depths next, simple fact is p1 will always be worth more as they become less(in standard form) purely because they where a limited run. maybe they are nothing special just like the rb5 but because so many have rotted away into subaru heaven theyre on the up aswell. its people with money that keep the prices rising as there willing to keep buying! Amen to the loaded fellas.
