This has been going on in Italy for years and years though , Nigerian women girlfriends worked with ( based in London) has done various trading there with husband, nothing bad afaik , but was told about the gangs bringing girls into the place before saw it on the TV . And then you got the mafia who only have always been ideally placed geographically. Can't see how you can persecute those running from conflict / enforced conscription . Anyway Italy has had involvement with Eritrea down the years

And to be fair, you have to be pretty desperate to go through other peoples rubbish looking for food and clothing.

very true there are plenty of our own on the streets of this country, much to my dismay plenty of them are ex servicemen/women in a county that owes them a debt, unlike our own passengers and passengers from other countries to whom we owe sod all, apart from humanity,as someone said earlier in this thread why do we have foreign aid when we have our own destitute and homeless, and that was said by someone in a foreign poverty ridden country

Can't really blame people for wanting to escape tyranny, murder, rape and corruption on a massive scale, if that somehow turns them into the comfortable term of "economic migrants" then so be it, I say they are just frightened people that want a better life for themselves and their children, and when you consider the people that have been holidaying in their countries for many years and appear to have a good life are Europeans, it's no wonder they aspire to go to europe.
Face it folks, the UK and Europe are now victims of their own propaganda and success.

Many of these "passengers" as you call them were former colonies, so yes all the Pakies (sorry but you guys know where I'm coming from) that we fcuked over and all the Indians, Africans,Jamaicans, etc,etc have a right to be here because many of them fought and died for this country as did the Polish and the Nepalese.
Sorry mate but you got to take the rough with the smooth.

Yes I agree, but yet more uncomfortable truth is, this Great Britain was built off the backs of many other countries and what we are seeing today is in part our chickens coming home to roost.

Like I said earlier, these are very desperate people, the Italians aren't known for their ability to integrate / assimilate with new cultures, these incomers are basically ostracised by the vast majority of Italians and seriously struggle to find work, building and cleaning are pretty much all they get a look in at, and only because they're considerably cheaper than the locals.

60,000 head count done somewhere near Dubrovnik, and yet more on the way every day, Serbia keep filling bus loads of them and dumping them at the Croatian border at the rate of circa 20 busses a day. Croatia have closed the border to serb traffic (mostly trucks).
As I said in earlier posts none of these people want to stay in Croatia, they're all asking to be moved on, Austria are trying to send them back to Croatia as well, there are also trains full of them coming in other locations around the region.
It's a crazy situation and all the governments involved seem to be passing these people onto one of the smaller poorer Countries ie Croatia, what the hell are they going to do with them? and where will all these people go? It's coming to winter, tourist season is all but over, so 25% of the working population are going to be out of a job for 5/6months and of the remaining 75% around 50/60% are in government / infrastructure type employment.
Jobs are few and far between here so there's little to no chance of these people ever contributing anything towards an already struggling economy.
Not looking good, some of these richer countries need to step up to the plate and do something instead of a load of hand wringing, UK included.

They've already been providing some military hardware and advice, and apparently pro-Assad forces have made gains as a result. Once they get to work with serious airstrikes and potentially ground forces too things will get interesting.
US obviously against this as they want to be rid of ISIS AND Assad. Russia want Assad in power as they don't want pipelines being built through Syria which would allow gas into the European market from the Middle East competing with Russian gas.
