As well as workmanship a good company's reputation is also built on customer service!
Very disappointing mate.
I don't suppose or expect you to name the company but I would be tempted to take it else where if that's their attitude.
Aren't the 3 arches(Think that's what it's called) close to you? They get very very good thing said about them, especially by the welsh crew on here.

No mate won't name the company as I don't doubt that they have built up a good reputation for no good reason, I just think that I've been one of the unlucky ones, like I said I'm very dissapointed especially the amount of hard earned money I originally spent,
I think i will have to take it somewhere local to keep costs down and I'm pretty convinced from the feedback so far and from what I can see that it is either release bearing related or as simple as poorly fitted spring clip from clutch plate, I may be wrong but don't believe it is no coincidence it has happened so soon after the work was done, will make some further enquires tomorrow and hopefully get the car back on the road soon

Hope you get it sorted.
Btw I wasn't suggesting 3 arches did the work(my post wasn't too clear lol)
Wasn't suggesting to name who it was either as it always causes an uproar!
I was just thinking if 3 arches are close to you then might be a good place to take it,if not there then someone who knows Subaru.

Right bit of an update, so I took the car to indigo gt in South Wales, all the suspicions were correct and the diagnosis was that the clip had came off the release bearing to pressure plate, whilst it's there and the box is out it makes sense to renew the release bearing which there hoping to get today so I can collect tomorrow,
Where does this leave me with the original specialist as mentioned before this can't be no coincidence that it has happened so soon after the work was carried out, surely with the box out originally all parts like release bearings etc would be inspected incase abnormally worn, if this was the case at all! doesn't make sense to go to all the expense I did for a cheap part to fail which is leaving me with another bill I shouldn't of expected!!
Any opinions would be much appreciated

You need to ask the company that rebuilt the box what a "3 piece clutch kit" consists of.
Did indigo GT say it's had a new release bearing and pressure plate ??

Right, well as said previously and after a Google search a 3 piece clutch kit consists of new clutch, release bearing and pressure plate so makes it more apparent that the problem lies with poor fitment on original work carried out, what is strange is that indigo have ordered a new release bearing, after the conversation I had with them earlier it certainly didn't sound like a new release bearing had been fitted,
Very strange indeed, confused?!!!

[QUOTE=mechanix;11755482]To be honest I am no expert and took it there believing they were one of the best specialists in the business and went on there recommendations explaining what was wrong with the car, what it was used for etc and the work they did is itemised in the invoice which I would of thought to be right with the problems it had hence them being specialists and wouldn't of questioned it but now my opinion has changed and have become a bit downhearted with it all at the moment

The words "im no expert" followed by "specialist" are never a good recipe as it leaves you wide open to being mis sold, or over sold things, as you've experienced.
Heard of another place taking 10k off someone to mod a hawk wrx to 370bhp, because he didnt know anything about cars, didnt even like the car, but his mates told him he might like it more if it was fast.
The scary trend at the moment seems to be that Subaru specific specialists are inflating prices for basic work and this has been encouraged by forums like this. Take an engine to a standard engine builder and you'll get a reasonable price, go to a subaru builder and you'll pay more, same with transmissions, I had a 5 speed box repaired at a local transmission place for £140, I was quoted £600+ vat by scoobyclinic.
While I agree there are certain specialist areas associated with every car make/brand they all have 4 wheels, an engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes etc. If you're not willing to go to the main dealer for everything why go to specialists? Think logically about where you're spending your money and on what.

Well there's more bad news unfortunately, the company in South Wales have fixed the broken clutch which was a broken clip from release bearing to pressure plate either down to poor fitment or faulty part but now they have put it all together 4th gear isn't selectable, unknown to themselves the box has been rebuilt and stressed me to get hold of the original garage, managed to get hold of the owner who was a bit dismayed with the service I had received over the phone from one of there employees prior to me taking it somewhere else as want happy with the response he gave me stressing the problems to him about the work they had done which wasn't acceptable, it's now getting collected on wendesday by the original garage who are going to investigate, I don't want to spend anymore money on the box ideally but as mentioned in previous post by fellow members that the box is a bit 'chocolate' is there anything the garage can do while it's there to strengthen it?

You can fit blast plates(someone on here is fabricating&selling them) I think they're originally built by moores in the U.S.: have a look at the tests they did.
You can also get a stronger gear set, there was a thread on here not so long ago.
Search for posts by 'TheRig' as he was looking into this when he stripped 3rd gear.

5 speed options are semi helical PPG gearset or maybe Albins gear set if scooby clinic still sell them.. £ 3500 ish though... had a 6 speed in mine for a year. . Just removed it and put my original 5 speed back in the RA.

I've worked out who did the work and it appears their reputation is going downhill fast. Things do go wrong when repairing cars, but its how they put things right that matters. I had a six speed gear assy rebuilt by them and havent had any issues, not cheap but no issues so far.
Unless you give them the opportunity to put things right you havent got much of an argument if they want to get snotty, lets hope they do the right thing and put it right.
Good luck.

Wow, a lot of money then for stronger gear sets, the blast plates look a nice little touch for the money, I think I will wait till they get the car and inspect it first before I decide on anything and see what they find and say to me, fingers crossed it will get resolved and I can finally move forwards with the car,
