Don't like them, don't tend to eat much sweet stuff at all, am more of a savoury guy.

Although will fight to the death for a bit of pick 'n' mix

A minute ago you were proudly giving out a recipe for semi hand made Xmas pies. Just make your own, rather than buying readymade ones. They'll taste better.

Normally strange ingredients etc but was lovely.

My ex-wife made the best ones :-( but I'm never telling her that
Credit should be given where, when and to whoever it's due- regardless. People should forget all the bitterness and share sweetness by sharing mince pies around Christmas. Tell her how good her mince pies were. She may make you some again with a bit of luck, if you behave yourself by not mincing about with marathon runners. At least don't stick it on your calendar!.

Yes, do report back, ditch. I'll be particularly interested in knowing how many you consumed and which ones were the best.

Same-ish here. Not heavily into sweet stuff myself, but some mince pies are really scrumptious! You should try one.

Definitely. The taste of frozen butter/lard in cold mince pies is a put off. If I have to have a cold one without cream, then I heat the cold piece inside my mouth with a swig of hot tea, and then kick start the process of enjoying it. Mind you, the ones that lady at work made weren't like that. They tasted fine, even if it wasn't warmed up inside my mouth with the aforementioned method. I don't see that lady very often, or I would have asked for her pastry recipe.
