You just need to cast your mind back and see through them wrinkles.

Watching now, hope it lives up to the hype. I used to be a massive fan of the original Robot Wars when I was a kid.

Pretty good I thought. The advent of more powerful & reliable motors, electronics & batteries combined with hi-tech materials can make some awesome machines.
Carbide is a case in point. It was like Hypnodisc on steroids. The damage it caused was akin to an IED going off!! Smashed some of the other robots to pieces.

I thought it was great and it wasn't filled out with loads of talking and backstage stuff which is what I was worried about- IMO the balance was right.

I was just talking to a friend and said that carbine is just a modern version of hypnodisc.

Really enjoyed the first show - my 11 year old son was also excited, as last series finished before he was born!

I watched it, was OK.

The contestants are just geeks/nerds of the highest order.

I`m sure he`ll love it. I entered robots in series two and three.
Disruptor http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Disruptor and Excalibur http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Excalibur.
My son was involved with Excalibur and still talks about it now. Good to see a couple of old teams in the new series, like Behemoth and Killerhertz. Sad to see Razer get beaten in the first episode as it was such a well built machine and just looked so cool. When you see them in the flesh you can see how much bigger they are than look on the telly.

Yep, knocked out in the first round unfortunately. We managed to pierce their poly-carbonate shell and puncture their tyre but then lost a lot of control for some reason.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-43442628

Robot Wars has been axed by the BBC for a second time.

The show featuring duelling robots was rebooted on BBC Two in 2016 and ran for three series.

Presented by Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon since its return, it is to be scrapped to "make room for new shows", the BBC said.

Never saw the appeal. Apart from taking the **** out of the (albeit, clever) nerds lol

It won't be missed.
