Scripture vs. the facts.

You tapping away on your phone when you have your blessed guests about??? That's not very nice! We didn't know you still had guests. You shouldn't be on Scoobynet when you have good times calling with the real life pleasures. Good night to you. God bless. X

About prayers and God, I suggest a really good book. It doesn't talk about any twisted conditions laid by any faith to follow, but it certainly explains the positions of the prayers and God in life; in relation with the existential anxiety. It's called Man's Search for Meaning by late Dr. Viktor Frankl. There's a pdf available on line, I think.

What do you think is wisdom then?
As for prayer, why do you think it works? It certainly doesn't work as described in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16, so what is prayer for you, and how do you know it works?
And, if you turn around and say " oh well, that is not what prayer is" then you are contradicting the NT, so then it's a lie, or you choose to ignore it. If so, why is some of it so true and that isn't? If you agree that it is what in those verses, then why is it so demonstrably untrue yet you say it is?

The false dichotomy of science v. faith. Don't believe it kids! You can have a rich spiritual life and an understanding of the world around you via the scientific method. The scientism of Geezer, Bulldog and Hodgy offers only the latter.
Romans 1:25 prophesied:
"They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator who is forever praised."

It seems your life is one long conflict. You say how much you love Jesus, how important your beliefs are to you, yet not important enough to not live in sin.
You have faith in something utterly unfounded, yet rely on proof in every day life.
I have no such conflict, I am totally at peace with my life. Religion and science are totally at odds. Religion gives in to science, it has to, otherwise it would have disappeared long ago. It is slowly giving in to everything else, women priests, gay marriage, where does the hypocrisy end?
IS are a bunch of tw@ts for sure, but at least they stick to what they believe in. Christians have been selling out for two thousand years.

Because he doesn't believe in something that is in contradiction of established science, because he doesn't believe in something with not one shred of proof to back it up, he lacks wisdom?

The same cannot be said about JT, he would apparently die for his God but cannot keep it in his pants for his God, some pretty screwed up logic there.
At least I know what I believe in, the same cannot be said for JT, his God says no sex before marriage yet he is happy to ignore his God just because it suits him, it is easy to say "I would die for God" however I highly doubt that he would be able to follow through on that statement seeing as he can't even manage to keep it in his pants, it is just laughable.
Goodnight

Hey BB.
One interesting thing I note is you you type 'Him' and 'God' using capitals.
Lot of non believers simply do not bother

Interestingly, I do it out of respect for the other members (believers) on the forum - not because I necessarily believe myself!

I notice that JT calls people materialistic, yet the only mentioned s of materials (expensive wedge wood etc) come from JT himself.
It seems hypocrisy is one of JTaylors strong points. What would his God think.....

Perhaps I ought to have said physicalist instead of materialist so as not have confused you and Hodgy.

I don't think there's much emphasis on 'simple living and high thinking' in the Bible, anyway. Is there?
Oh, I forgot to say what I think of The Pilgrim's Progress. Imo it's a fantastic piece of English literature! I haven't read it myself, but what I've learnt about it is sufficient for me to form this opinion.

That wouldn't necessarily lead to BB and alike having an unconscious belief in the supremacy of God. That simply could be showing that someone is sufficiently literate.

The lads here are used to giving out and receiving such disrespect. Some are very well-spoken, if not unnecessarily honey-drenched falsies. The other types go personally insulting over absolutely anything; e.g. something as non-issue as a Mars f**king Bar! At the end of the day, it's a car forum, and we get all sorts of lads here; from nobbeds to no beds. What do you expect.

I am quite content with being logical, if that means I lack wisdom then so be it, another thing I lack is hypocrisy,
The same cannot be said about JT, he would apparently die for his God but cannot keep it in his pants for his God, some pretty screwed up logic there.

And God knew that we was not all going to stay on the exact line of righteousness,Jesus died on the cross for our sins, even when Jesus was on the cross he said, father forgive them, they don't know what they do,pray for forgiveness and your sins will be forgiven,or reject and stay in denial.
You might have the Syntax Police after you for that sentence

"John the Greater, for proposing a tax on pirates you must walk the plank. Prepare for Davey Jones' Latte."
This kind of enlightened me about the term 'Syntax Police'.

Interesting sermon at church last night. We were in Romans 3 and talked about justification through faith alone.
Romans 3:21-31
Anyway, during fellowship (after church) which included a visiting pastor and an elder from a large Baptist church in Cardiff, I mentioned this thread and particularly the objection that so many of you have regarding the fact that people who've been 'bad' can be justified through faith whereas people who've been 'good', but reject the Lord, will be damned. Well, I'm afraid the answers given were no different than those which I've given. All sin is sin and no one is declared righteous accept via the redeeming blood of Christ. That's that.
Romans 3:21-31
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. 28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

All sin is sin: agreed. And nothing short of 100% - perfection - will see one justified in the eyes of the Father. The only way a human can be justified is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ where He puts on our stinking clothes and we put on His spotless robe. Doesn't matter whether you're a child murderer or someone who's sworn a bit, you can only be justified in front of God by being washed in His Son's blood.
