Let's hope he is not remembered as the man who brought the UK to it's knees.
Still, we have to live with the result and make the best of it. I'm sure we will recover from the shock of the markets, the question is to what degree?
The Conservative leadership contest will be interesting, as most of the cabinet are Remain, so we could end up with right wing previously unheard of person. We all know how well the Labour did when it lurched to the left, I suspect the same will be true of the Conservatives if they lurch to the right. Or it could be Boris.......
Of course, if they have any sense, they won't invoke Article 50 for another 30 years

Well that was a long night!
Things turned out pretty much exactly as I thought they would.
Anyway took the dog out for a walk on a beautiful morning, it gave me a chance to clear my weary head.
We have a brave new world, some of it looks exciting, some looks quite scary.
We need to ensure that we make the very best of our new circumstances and take advantage of the opportunities that may come our way. There are bound to be some fairly frantic market movements, and some short term financial challenges. We need proper leadership now to ensure that the longer-term prospects are positive.
It clear to me that non of the main party leaders have the confidence of the electorate, Cameron is obviously going, but Corbyn cannot remain either, he simply is incapable of offering effective opposition.
Lots of people on my side of this issue, are true patriots, we just have a different perspective on our place in the world.
What's important now is that we all try to pull in the same direction, the world has changed and that is now everyone's responsibility, not just the half the country that voted Leave.

What are you planning to do? Should I start calling you Steffan?

What are you on about? Stop watching the BBC and think about it. Who's the big loser? UKIP! They're finished. We can return to a more traditional political landscape in the UK now with the traditional 3 parties. I went to sleep after watching Farage last night excitedly 'admitting defeat', thinking he would be able to look forward to surging UKIP support from today. Lib Dems have the potential to gain the most here.

Thank you! As have you
Sadly it was to no avail! My posts are often maybe too long and I fear many just couldn't be bothered to read them
The vote was very close as predicted and with 70% turnout, that means 30% just couldn't be bothered about their future, which is a very sad state of affairs! This is democracy and the Remainers have to accept that we lost, but at the same time the Leavers cannot gloat over a very narrow margin and they also have to accept that 48% didn't want to leave and their opinions should be respected.
I agree the vote was won on Immigration, which is truly sad as this is not really a problem directly created by the EU. British immigration to Europe has always offset EU immigration to the UK. The remain campaign overwhelmingly failed to address these issues and sadly only concentrated on pushing the fear of the economy!
I fully accept the problems associated with mass migration, but they genuinely are UK problems - Germany has seen much greater migration in the last year and taken the required measures to deal with it without unduly straining the public services. While I believe the majority of peoples immigration problems are genuine, there is sadly a disgusting and not insignificant minority who were racially motivated and that I cannot accept!
There also appears to be a significant number of people who voted leave as a protest against the governing classes, which is truly upsetting on such an important decision with far reaching consequences both in the UK, across Europe and the rest of the world! There are better ways to protest!
We now have to move forward and hope for the best in the great unknown that is coming!
On a personal note, as a Brit living in the EU, I also now have to consider my future and the direct consequence this decision will have on my life. If the UK does not at least remain in the EEA and accept freedom of movement, then I may have little choice but to take German nationality which will quite likely also mean having to giving up my British passport! Many millions of other Brits across the union will also be facing this sad dilemma

Plus just because the people voted to leave last yesterday does not mean the UK is out or even nearly out, nothing has changed since wednesday.
Well accept for the money I send back is currently 7c cheaper than it was yesterday but that is recovering fast aswell.

What everyone seems to be forgetting in their jubilation is this is not a legally binding vote as per an election it is basically only a Voice of the workforce survey. Now management need to take action and as 66% of MPs voted to remain I can't see a parlimentay vote being any different.

There is no way, not a single chance, that parliament will fail to vote on the basis of this referendum.

Phew, that was close. I'm so glad...
...I didn't bet the cash I was thinking of on the basis of the ScoobyNet poll!
Mind you, it got the result right, just not the percentages.
I don't blame the PM for going. Purely as a bloke, he needs some time off from all the pressure, whatever you think of him. I wouldn't want to be PM with all that stress, especially as Mr Rooney gets more pay in a week than he gets in a year.
And, to coin a phrase, for once, I agree with Martin. Well said Sir!

Nope, still the same as the last few weeks.

I hope that one of the consequences of this tumult is that EU leaders now realise that they are on the wrong track. They must reform, the reformers need to have their day.
We still need a strong EU, they are our neighbours, we need them to be successful.

If that was originated BEFORE the voting started then 'fair enough.' Well, kind of.
But I'm assuming, given the 25th Nov. deadline and the fact it runs for 6 months, then it must have been set up this morning, after the result - with its convenient 'goalposts' put in place? Ergo, from a disgruntled remainer.

Quite right. We are where we are and must deal with it, the good and the bad. The deflated 'remainers' on here, rubbing their hands gleefully and hoping that it will soon go horribly wrong, need to stop whining and man up to the new challenges.
