The markets have recovered much quicker than expected. I'd loaded up on Randgold Resources in anticipation of this result, and had hoped to get some shares in UK manufacturing companies like Rolls Royce on the cheap, but I think I've left if too late, they're up already!

The EU has been an itch that we couldn't help but scratch, pick at the edges of the scab, well now that itch has been well and truly scratch and it's starting to bleed. Is there a plaster in sight and how will it heal? Sadly, today has been a victory for populist politics....

Not for long though, we've got the chance to get onato a stable and sustainable footing, they've still got to get out the EU first!

Well that was a long night!
Things turned out pretty much exactly as I thought they would.
Anyway took the dog out for a walk on a beautiful morning, it gave me a chance to clear my weary head.
We have a brave new world, some of it looks exciting, some looks quite scary.
We need to ensure that we make the very best of our new circumstances and take advantage of the opportunities that may come our way. There are bound to be some fairly frantic market movements, and some short term financial challenges. We need proper leadership now to ensure that the longer-term prospects are positive.
It clear to me that non of the main party leaders have the confidence of the electorate, Cameron is obviously going, but Corbyn cannot remain either, he simply is incapable of offering effective opposition.
Lots of people on my side of this issue, are true patriots, we just have a different perspective on our place in the world.
What's important now is that we all try to pull in the same direction, the world has changed and that is now everyone's responsibility, not just the half the country that voted Leave.
Onwards Britain

Another one said it was all Germany and Merkel's fault for letting in too many supposed refugees that turned out to be economic migrants, and for being intractable with us.
The French really don't like that woman, LOL

I think that probably sets the scene for how negotiations will go

I think that one of the great ironies of this will be that it will shock the EU in to reform, and it could become something great, something it should have been, and we won't be part of it, to our detriment.

The EU will either fragment spectacularly, or the above will happen. Ho hum.
It surely cannot now go on as-is.

FTSE 100 now higher than last Friday before this vote even took place. I'm sorry but where are all the "expert" economists now? It's no where near as bad most people thought it would be. The UK is such a strong Country to start with in the first place- we can go at this alone. Looks like people are finally smelling the coffee.

I'll be very surprised if there isn't isolated violence this week, some real hatred from the remain camp building. Even comments to the local low-key paper claiming all 'leavers' are racist/xenophobic.
Southern based social media outlets directing a lot of hatred towards Northerners.

My gran's on the phone in tears about her voting out has caused the country to go up the wall and she's regretting it, bless her (she's in her 80's and very frail).
Spent the past 10mins trying to convince her that her vote was a drop in the ocean.

I have no concerns. We'll work it out. Truth be told it probably be a few years before we actually make any major changes. So barring the engineered market blips (which some are getting very rich from), it's business as usual.
Although I find it quite funny that the Labour camp are blaming Corbyn...are his MPs so deluding in their thinking that he could change the opinion of millions of voters.

N.Ireland voted to remain also.
It'll just be years of uncertainty now, where everything you do will cost you more.
N.Ireland will have to get some kind of border again between the North & South.

Funny, isn't it. If the vote had gone the other way, I doubt there would be the same reaction.
If it does kick off though, there were 1.7m more `Leave`voters than `Remain` voters. We out number the morons.

Of course there'll be some hard-core liberals who just won't accept the result, but democracy doesn't always go the way you want.
The funny thing is seeing as we're not part of the single currency, not in the shengen zone (or what's left of that idea!), already drive on the other side of the road to the rest of the EU etc, we'll not really 'see' any huge changes really, even the FTSE now is only down like 3.8%, and is higher than it was a week ago!
