Theres alot less Evo's in the UK than there is Impreza's. Hence the price difference, Impreza's are more common guessing because all the older Evo's were imports and not made in the UK.
As for Impreza prices they have gone up alot, started with lower fuel prices, then rarer models got inflated by such dealers as we dare not speak

And there was me thinking my 95 WRX modified was only worth about £2.5 k . Seen some cars similair to mine in spec but since mines white that must add £500 lol

I had my spec c for sale for about 2 months, didn't drop the price but it was £16.495 Ono
A guy turned up, said it was to fast for him, second guy turns up walks around the car once, I took him for a driver wasn't here no longer than 20 minutes, he didn't even attempt to make a offer just said I'll give you the full asking price left a deposit then came back Friday.
Just waiting for the one person who wants to pay what you want.

Bought a P1 needing a new engine 3 years ago for £2k.
Good condition.
A car with the same mileage and condition at the time was worth £5 or £6k
Now worth £10k
Eventually built to 500bhp spec then sold in parts
Considered another but just can justify £10k when I got a mint V4 type r for a lot less although it does need an engine

On the good side, just traded my STi for £2250 less than I originally paid, so good result after 4 years of ownership.

Typical it happened when I sold my Prodrive Bugeye. Sold it for under 6, would have gotten around 7,7.5 if I still had it now! Though on the plus side, I bought it for 4.5... LOL

Prices are way too high imo, sold my 2003 Spec C with 20k on it 7 years ago for £10,750. Nobody at the time seem to want 1 now everybody is jumping on the band wagon. Now people are paying stupid money for them, are they worth it. IMO no.

There is a shrinking supply of desireable scoobies due to wastage and cars being broken up which is bound to result in price increases.
But conversely the breaking business prospers as a result of owners not being able to sell for the price they think the car is worth. Plus the owners must make more money selling cars for breaking or it wouldn't happen.

The quality of used scoobies is the issue IMO if you want a desirable model wide track jdm spec c ect and you also want it in a certain condition for that you pay a premium I payed what I was happy with for my jdm knowing it's a rare car and will hold its price. Some of the imports I saw were poor and priced up. there seems to be a big step in price for jdm over uk and IMO is valid not just on spec but also condition in most cases but also there are some uk spec cars for sale trying to price up based on jdm values so it's a bit of a no win situation.

I think that a little while ago, when decent cars became worth more sold as bits than a whole car, it was in indicator of the bottom of the market. In the long term, it's only up from there.

WRX's, unless under 50k miles, should not be going for anything near 7k. Find it ridiculous that some trade sellers are selling this for them.
Imo, STi's are just unfortunately going up just for the pure fact they are such a good car. You can't beat that practicality, speed and looks. Although, you can easily make the WRX STi speed with a remap, but don't tell the trade sellers that

I don't think fuel prices will matter much anymore, certainly not for classics. They're old enough for it not to bother people - who checks the mpg of a Golf Mk I any more? Classics are heading that way in the way people think about them. New buyers will want them mainly as toys, there won't be nearly as many daily runners.

Reading this makes me glad I didn't sell my V4 JDM STI for £5k a few months back when I was having engine problems. Sorted it all out now just need to sort the rust out and I've got a tidy investment no?

tbh I do need the money, but I'd probably be more gutted if I sold the car. I've test driven plenty of other ''fast'' cars and noting puts a smile on my face like the Scooby. I do however need to stop using it as a daily...... #gettingalockup
