Unless the chemicals they allegedly spray do the job just fine from 6 miles up , since none of this is based on facts or evidence anything is possible

Thats a doddle for the flat earthers.

they just take one look at it, and if there's is nothing remotely supporting there view its obviously faked

MP Michael Gove said today that Britain won't fall off the edge if we leave the EU, so he's obviously a flat earth man too. Sadly his recognition of the FES means I will now have to reconsider my membership.

True enough! What I don't get is why would anyone fake it being a sphere? What would they have to gain? It's not like other CTs, which although I don't agree with, the back story would at least give the conspirators something to really hide for good reason.

what actually IS interesting is why our solar system is flat - and indeed many other galaxies

Lol, chemtrials

As conspiracy theories go, this has to be one of the daftest

They wrap it up with a sciencey title of Geoengineering

it is still b0ll0x but surprisingly prevalent amongs the CT crowd

Along with all all sorts of horse****

A technical term is "crank magnets"

People who have a predisposition to cr4p beliefs and theories

If we print this out, how much of a flat Earth would it cover?

Yes, what these type of "expert" views show, is that being technically competent in a narrow field - such as in this case, missile systems, does not make one immune from crank views

It would be odd if that was not the case tbh, we are all human and have human foibles after all, and one of which seems to be that some people think they can overturn 500 years of physics and observations

And weirdly a whole world / existence built on those physics and observations, the Internet for example

Because to them

"It does not feel right"

And the Internet is a brilliant vehicle for people like that to air their "feelings"

Back when everyone accepted that the world was flat and some nut claimed it was a globe how did he prove it , I'd imagine it was impossible to prove back then , but everyone accepted it , how long was it untill scientists could prove he was right to claim earth is a globe .

That military expert raises interesting facts , unless he's lying. If I could take one fact he claims , that using powerful binoculars he could see a boat on the water at a distance further away than should be possible , how is that possible , does light bend around the curve ? Or is he lying

Why don't you try and answer the question he raises, unless you think the earth is indeed flat

Light does bend around objects, we (or rather scientist know this )

The phenomen he talks about where objects can be seen over the horizon has perfectly natural explanation based on refractive physics

He is simply arguing from ignorance

Because unless thing are explained to him, TO HIS satisfaction than he will not accept them

And Galilieo based his theories on observations not gues work and "feelings"

Science has to explain things not hand wave them away - a flat earth explains nothing, apart from the person ignorance

People who think they can undermine 500 years of physics always play the Galileo card

It is called the Galileo Gambit or Galileo fallacy

Wow, one bloke with a pair of binoculars, a sketchy understanding of physics and access to the internet is all it takes these days.

Do people really believe the earth to be flat? I'm mean really?

the problem though Martin, is that science can be counter factual at times - and often runs against "common sense" and our natural view / or feelings

take the matter of sea level, how is it measured, how is it even defined

this great little youtube video on Sea Level explains it quite well - and taught me something too

What is Sea Level? - YouTube
Cheers for that, I've just learned something new about something that's nowhere near as simple as I'd assumed.

The more I research this the more sensible it sounds, which is worrying. I don't care if we're on a globe or a flat earth as long as we still have V-power.

Just to take one his points......

http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~jus...t/importan.htm

The relative conclusion amongst all the maths

"The result above also tells us that the general effect of radar refraction in the "standard atmosphere" is to make the earth seem bigger, and thus flatter than it really is."
