Great example here of misunderstanding Mercator maps

Google maps also use Mercator (wrongly in my opinion because they dont highlight this) which drastically distorts distances once you understand this the times all add up

update after now watching all the way through its not Mercator he is misunderstanding its the economics of Airlines and why they dont fly non stop to destinations no one wants to fly to
He actually says that they create dummy flights to try and fool people like him.

holy **** the force of stoopid is strong with this one

Look, please stop posting, well thought out, educated responses that reflect reality. Haven't you got any links to YouTube vids posted by people who have missed their meds?

And the fact you are posting in constructed English, with punctuation, everyone knows that txt speech lends your point more credence. Oh and don't forget to pop lol or something similar in at the end of every post, ok?

Some people........

Thanks

good question.
Trouble is the Mercator map is so pervasive and widely recognised.

if you think about it though ANY flat representation of a globe has to be compromised in some way.
try cutting up football so it sits flat on the ground without having huge gaps in the sections

try this no idea how it works

Just checked google maps and to be fair to them when you use there measuring tool they do show a curved projection between two points to ilustrate this is a Mercator map.

You do understand that planes need fuel to fly...right? And there is a certain capacity...right?

In fact - Falklands War - read up on how the vulcan bombers got there. (I know it ain't from Sydney, but the other guys, maybe not you, will get where I am coming from)

Then you fail completely, yet again. You understand the requirement to have enough fuel to fly to the destination required...right?

Hey, I can answer a question, my bad - I was looking at somewhere further.

If it works here you go: http://www.farecompare.com/12q/resul...04090000P1CTFN

So, what are you actually aiming at, rather than is there a flight there, which you could effing well google yourself.

I decided to try debunking the flat earth theory by finding a flight that on the globe is much shorter than on the flat earth map such as is on the UN flag , so I Google a couple of destinations and no flight available , I starting thinking holly **** , what if there are none , so I put the post up then went back to searching and found one ,

So either the flight is fake or that's it , proof earth is not flat , can't believe I'm actually writting this

I like a good conspiracy theory , i don't automatically believe them , just as I don't automatically believe everything in the news or that governments tell us ,

It is ultimately impossible to prove any conspiracy to be fact it is easier to disprove some ,

Is there any big event in history that you don't believe happened as you've been told , or at least question if it actually happened as you've been told it did

ok, you have risen a few notches in my estimation Either that, or it's the day drinking....

I get you, but the theories I hear are very far fetched and I really can't abide them, mostly. In all honesty, I currently can't think of anything that doesn't have some form of sound backing of science or reason. I am halfway through a crappy Friday afternoon though.

Wow..

I started reading this thread and thought wtf is this guy smoking.. Check.

Then I thought, ah he got me it's April 1st.. Oh, was started yesterday!

I'd like to think he's having a giraffe but I don't even think that's going on!

Makes you wonder what gravity really is doesn't it?! We could go to the 'edge' of the flat earth and throw a rock off, watch it drop.. Just like the whole flat earth itself would, hold up maybe we're falling? Or maybe the flat earth is the base of everything?

Must be a wind up Shirley!
