CASTLE COMBE TODAY!!!!
#31
Unfortunately missed the day - went to Wroughton with Easytrack, and am very unimpressed with their track setup - again. I've put all my winging about it in the track section.
Back to Castle Coombe though - sorry about the off Stef, and glad you're both ok. I've been your passenger a couple of times, and enjoyed your driving immensly - but I know you like to take your car to the limit, and am glad you've taken Hoppy's comments seriously/well.

Rosco,
BIG apologies if I gave you a look, NO look was intended or meant maybe a concerned look to make sure I didn't impede you, you were the faster car I WAS making sure I eased up enough for you??? Looks are not my style if the look came as I passed you slowing down after the Chequered flag it was to say sorry I was in the wrong. I wanted to follow simular speed cars to get the line you were a lot faster in same spec car, I am trying to learn. I know smoother is faster and I need to work on that.
Were you driving blue 4 door? I spoke to you by Stefs car, I would then have said something discreatly to your face if you had done any wrong not on post or behind your back.
Anyway VERY sorry.
If that was not incident, I don't believe I gave anyone a look. SORRY
Tony

Hi Tony
Yes it was me in W508WDL with the Sti spoiler. No hard feelings mate , I thought maybe I'd done something wrong!
I had just had the bumpsteer and anti lift kit fitted on Friday and it does make the handling a lot more neutral/better.
That Astra came flying up behind me too! He was motoring!
Anyway, we both had a good day out and I thought Castle Coombe was an excellent track.
See you at Trax if you're going
Regards
Steve Ross

Steve,
I believe you said your car "was a standard car", my son said at that piont I went into a dream( its my age ) as I do sometimes and always getting told off by the wife . I was probably re-living the last few laps to see where I'd lost so much time, yours did seem to have better handling .
I was getting a lot of understeer and oversteer (I was experimenting on the track and not on the road) Apparently bump steer(£120 at powerstation) will aid understeer. I know that my ill judged late braking caused my oversteer will the anti-dive kit reduce this.(how much fitted ?)
See you at Silverstone.
Tony
Ps If I don't speak there hit me on the head with something hard. Got a head like sieve.

I had the bumpsteer and anti lift done at the same time and it has made a nice difference. How the hell are you getting oversteer? The only way I could get any was to lift off the throttle sharp (mid corner), or stay on the brakes as I was turning in to the corners!
I too was experimenting all day as it does handle differently. I was being quite aggressive turning in rather than smoothly as I found the back end would drift nicely. As for Quarry corner (I think) it didn't matter what I did, it still understeered because of the camber.
The car does still understeer, but not nearly as badly. Also turns in a lot more confidently. I always used to get the feeling that once I'd committed too fast a speed to that corner, the only way of getting round would be to brake or scrub off speed. Hence needed to get it right first time.
Now if it's too fast, play with the throttle and get the back end to just start to drift.
The car is standard apart from PE downpipe, centre and backbox and a K & N filter. Also just treated myself to a set of P1 wheels and tyres.
See ya soon

Steve,
Mainly at camp whilst the car was light and unstable, too Quick turning in got backend going out big style and ended up cliping the apex with the nearside wheels
Tony
what was the price for bump steer and anti-dive fitted?

Bumpsteer was 100 and anti lift was 120 I believe. All plus VAT.
Bump is the dive part, lift is for when you are accelerating hard.
All the bumpsteer is, is a geometry set up to their settings. For the anti lift they fit new poly bushes and metal thingys (can't remember what they are called) to enable them to put more caster on the car.
They said that bumpsteer is 80% and anti lift is the other part, but if you want antilift fitted at a later date, you'll have to have a geometry set up done again!
So I got it done in one go
I was also going to get eibach springs fitted as well, but I should have booked it up before hand.
