Back on topic....

We visited friends in London and the surrounding area last summer for 4 days or so.

Didn't see any on the way down there, saw one Hawkeye near Twickenham Stadium, 2 on my friends drive, and none on the way back home. So yeah, I think they are getting a bit of a rarer sight.

Did find a Lotus Carlton gathering dust in a garage though.

I saw a white 2015 STI today in Wakefield. Arguably the best looking model in that colour.

TBH I still see the same amount of Subarus but not so many classic WRX's these days. I just notice a lot of cherished Classics.

Having covered over 1000 miles around Europe twice in the last two years in a Classic WRX RA (1500 miles in a week) and a JDM WRX Blob I just about managed 30 MPG on long autobahn runs at a steady 70 mph. With some overtaking or normal driving the numbers dropped to early 20's at best.

Otherwise the figures are not achievable, from real world experience and not trawling the web for data.

Thomas's/Tubbies ban's are because people complain about his responses to peoples idiotic comments who take offence to his truthful answers, they then hide behind the mod's.

I get about 30mpg at 70 too and 25mpg at 80, at 50-60mph around 32-38 depending on how level the ground has been.

I can imagine Subaru base their 2001-2016 figures (Not counted limited edition classics with short top gears) on a level test ground at a pretty efficient set speed.

But when people claim 20mpg average from a Newage off-boost, that's their MPG, bad calculations and not especially their cars peak economy. It's the same on the Honda Type R and Golf TDI forums, people claiming 18mpg for the Type R and 40mpg for the Golf's, I just despair. I could drive all their cars and get any measuring means to record 30mpg and 50mpg over the course of a day.

Trooper what gear would you have have been in the JDM WRX at 30mph in urban areas?

Back on topic....


Even though I live 2 miles away from a Subaru main dealer garage I still hardly see any on the roads. I'd say I see another Subaru once every 2 weeks on average, maybe an enthusiast that waves back once a month on average. That's it! Such a shame, but does make you feel a little more exclusive now.


The local Subaru clubs have died down and stopped meeting probably 10 years ago now.

The same gear as a UK car as they are the same gearboxes, but WTF as that got to do with the thread or your bizarre responses?

All the fuel efficiency testing is done in a lab, a strictly controlled environment without any external factors, ie low rolling resistance, no head wind, no AC on, no passengers etc etc, not on the open road. You must live in a cave if you don't know that one!

Ha ha trust me, I've tried to back up Subaru's claims of 40mpg extra Urban and not in my man shed!

The company talks more boll0cks than me, Fat-tom and Brownpants put together!
