(I'd add - they don't trawl without reason I.e if they have fair cause to suspect mods/other non-disclosures on the application).

However, in OP's defence, no one buys a Scooby to drive like a saint.... I did something similar many years ago (90 in a 50mph zone at 2am in an Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf). Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky and Mr Plod caught up with me. Policeman was incredibly fair with me and after an almighty bollocking let me off with a Section 39 (where they can seize the car if it happens again), even after I disclosed car was being sold following day....

Still enjoy a B road blast but I'm far more restrained these days...
Section 59 i think you'll find

The police are actually OK with ''spirited'' driving at unsocial hours, and by OK i mean they wont have your pants down but will give you a 59 and/or warning depending how civil you are with them.

I was pulled by the rozzers who showed me on their camera trying to catch up to me going triple digits down the front in bpool at 3am (long empty road, 40mph limit).

Admitted my mistake, took my warning and section 59 and definitely wont be doing that again in a hurry

Back in the 80s, my dad was speeding along an empty dual carriageway in the dead of night (getting back from a meeting) and he realised he flew past a cop car. It caught up with him, then got in front, and as they both came up to and stopped at a roundabout, the passenger copper wound down his window. My dad obviously thought he was gonna have the book thrown at him... The copper flashed a smile and went, "Beat yer!!", before proceeding to zoom off into the distance.

That's the kind of coppering I like.
