A big fat juicy NO!!!!

I remember the ERM, my god did we get screwed when we were FORCED to pull out due to economic implosion. If we went into the Euro we wouldnt have the option to pull out, even worse!

I got to europe quite often, changing currency is no big deal, i would rather do this than lose control over the economy and taxes.

Europe is not the USA, it is a very old and established part of the world where each area specialises in certain products and services, each area has a diferent cultural makeup, has diferent wants and needs and suffers diferent economic cycles. It's imposible to change that and a single econic policy, which is what the Euro is, will not work. The Euro is already showing signs of imploding, with Germany warned by the central bank after it started messing with it's interest rates.

Dont confuse the Euro with being a member of the EU either, two completely diferent subjects!

I say no for all the reasons already mentioned.

Interesting though that Murdoch doesn't want it. He does run a huge company so this offsets the bleets of many. Also I don't think the Government should underestimate the power of Murdochs papers. It is after all The Sun and the stories it ran on Tories sleaze that booted them out of office, and despite the quantity of sleaze in New Labour keeps them in Government. I'm afraid that there are many people out there who are not so bright but read The Sun who will take the view that The Sun must be right and will vote against the Euro.

Definitely NO!

I can only see my pension and savings being devalued by the conversion, Europe is far too large and diverse for a single monetary policy to succeed.

We already contribute £11bn to Europe (this is where the council sweeteners come form) but we certainly don't get £11bn worth of benefit back from Europe.

There is also the prospect of more countries joining the Euro gravy train which will mean we will pay even more into Europe to get even less back.

It is also worrying that Europe is run by unelected failed politicians from all the member states, Neil Kinnock, Sir (Why?) Leon Briton et al.

Faster Mike,

A strong pound is not always good for UK Industry, makes our products expensive to sell to the world and makes foreign products cheap to buy in the UK, this is why manufacturing is in crisis.

I'm not pro Euro but there are strong arguments in some sectors for some sort of change and quickly.
