What the hell am I supposed to watch on TV now?

Back to Brexit documentaries and Eastenders, how depressing...

Not really.
What do we get in return?

Was it not mostly lottery funded rather than taxpayer?

Only the recognition that we've all been waiting for.
As a nation we are now a SSP according to CEO UK SPort Liz Nicholl. (That's Sports Super Power btw)
Of course that will only last until China decides they don't like coming third, and the Ruskies clean up their act and get with the program.

Directly, probably not very much.

But long term, if it inspires people, particularly the young, to be more active and participate in sports, even by a few fractions of a percent, it can only be a good thing for the welbeing of the nation and in turn the NHS.

Well London 2012 didn't seem to make much impact into that

Well possibly, it may be too early to tell though. But we got something else from 2012; it made a horrific bit of East London slightly less horrific.

If you can call it that, it looks soulless with no atmosphere, the fans look a long way from the pitch. With the stadium being a constant, circular curve it's not suited to football, quite a few of those along the touchlines have funny viewing angles where their seats are at an angle to the pitch because of the curve of the stadium.

Agreed. Steve Redgrave came close to decking him too. He could at least have chucked him in the pond!

GB doing amazing.

Looks like we'll beat Seoul's haul of 65 gold. And already beaten London's max haul 120 medals overall (on something like 147).

Seems all a bit empty though..... As that men's time trialist died yesterday.
