It's completely legal here in Ireland

I've lived in the country my whole life and there is no justification for treating animals in that way. It's just bollocks spouted by people who know no better.

I'm not vegetarian...my Mrs has been vegan for over twenty years though, so I guarantee whatever you have to say I will have heard it before.

This isn't about killing for food; there is **** all left of the animal after the dogs have finished with them. There is no justification for hunting animals for sport...the end.

I eat very little meat (Mrs is a great cook ) but what little I do eat is free range/ethically raised (OK, so there is the very occasional McBurgerKentucy after too many beers).

I didn't say it was cruel to cull rabbits, I said it was unacceptable to hunt for sport...particularly where dogs are used.

Give me one good reason why you can't just shoot them if you're using a lamp? What you're doing is evil for your own sick pleasures. Simple as that.

Totally agree
I've seen what happens to rabbits/cats/foxes when dogs get the hold of them.

In my youth I used to hunt and was paid to do so by local land owners, nothing mega just modified .177s and .22s; so sqirrels, rabbita, magpies and woodys. I know you and I know your type; trotting out the same tierd old justifications for their sport.

You really haven't got a clue have you.

I grew up on a farm, there's not much I haven't seen to be fair.

Question: Is this is for your enjoyment, rather than anything else?

Not really, that was 30 years ago and not been near a real gun for over 20 years...it would be hypocritical of me to preach here and continue to hunt, but I don't. It's all about education, empathy and growing up.

More justification for the act...and the personal gratification it brings you.

The crux of this issue is people enjoy it...so will use whatever justification they need to continue to partake. Its juat a shame when the activity is detrimental to others

I think we are all guilty of these behaviours -it's human nature- people mature at different rates so some take longer than others to recognise what they are doing.

Legality is hardly a good barometer for what is and isn't acceptable now is it...for the record coursing is illegal in the UK.

That has been established via your signature and earlier post, unsure what your point is.

Blah, blah, blah...standard response. I used to fish a lot too, not been for years and it still calls to me because I loved it and was pretty darn good. It's wrong though as it's entertainment at another creatures expense.

Hardly the same though is it.

Catch a fish vs have dogs relentlessly hunt down a defensive animal, then rip it apart - quite literally

Compelling arguments that they are indeed the same thing; chase a small animal to the point of exhaustion...drag an animal around by its mouth until it's exhausted, granted different end games but frighteningly similar concepts when considered.

I used the same argument in the 80s to defend fishing when the hunt saboteurs tried to lump it in with fox hunting.

Your confusing what we do to what the idiots on horses with packs of hounds do
Two different things
Unfortunately vermin cannot be allowed to breed out of control
Numbers need controlling
My phone rings off the hook with farmers wanting vermin removed glad to help
