Why do you want to push 300bhp? Are you chasing numbers for pub talk? Personally I'd just get the existing TD04 turbo mapped to the best of it's ability.

It's a small turbo and as such turbo lag is very minimal and it makes for a great road car when mapped in right. You are unlikely to hit 300bhp but you will end up with a nice car at the end of it. As already said, possibly billet wheel in the TD04 to help.

Don't chase numbers, It get's very expensive and doesn't always relate to how good the car is on the road. Just enjoy the car.

VF34 shouldn't be laggy at all on your setup. Should be great. It's a ball bearing turbo and they normally work very well indeed.

Your torque figure looks a little low for a 2.5 to be honest. Could be map related? Can you post your graph up?

To me fair i did ask for a safe ish map and not to push it to much coz had the chocolate engine stories running round my head, as it currently stands the car was way more fun to drive running the TD04 with supporting modes, can post up graph if i can suss out how to do the bugger lol

I've sent an email to a firm that can billet the turbo so I'll wait and see what they come back with.

To be honest if if I can reach 280/285 I'd be more than happy. As I don't want the problems that can occur when you try to push them to much mate

I think cuprajake had the same issues running a vf34 and ended up going to a TD04 hybrid, the vf34 is only 18 months old and had only done 1200 miles since it was bought new from RCM

Really ? How did you achieve that ?. What's the difference between a hybrid td04 and a normal one mate ?

I'm assuming it's just a quicker spool between the 2

Crank bearings, big ends normally but poss little ends too. As head gaskets fail they let in more particles to the oil which damage engine internals. As already said, when the head gaskets go, it's time for a full engine rebuild in good practice, otherwise the engine will fail again but worse very soon after.

That's really good going for a TD04 (even a hybrid). I didn't think they were capable of flowing that much.....
Have you got the graph?

A 34 should spool very nicely so i suspect there is another issue somewhere
