Ouch! Bet he was gutted about that. Too be honest I'm not worried about having my turbo changed, maybe to have it billet'd. But I wouldn't go to the extent that some people do when modifying cars.

i only bought a std 09 330s that had been forged 2014...too many horror stories. checking history before purchase and it turned it had also had an engine replacement in 2010

so if buying a std engine car, id budget for the forged build

they are a cracking car though - so much better than my previous hawk STI imo - so much road presence also

its how how people treat them I think mate.
Mine has 45k still on oe engine and never any work carried out by main stealers ! have had an issue with slight flat spot at 3k revs.
Had the car checked out by a specialist and full compression test done all ok so changed the plugs and all sorted now.
Running a cat back system (removed the secondary cat) so car is pritty much standard

Well, duh no surprise there....

The 2.5 may or may not be fragile, but that article is a crock of ****.

(I am not having a go at you Trooper, I just hate these internet "expert" articles that are poorly cobbled together).
What about the 62 pages of people, not many are having much help from IM. I know the standard WRX is relatively unaffected but the in the STi 2.5 obviously
does.

Like any WRX if it is pushed, it will break, but possibly sooner.

had mine 6yrs now.. bought at two years old.. (touch wood) no issues either...... how a car is treated is one of the problems.. wrong fuel.. red line bouncing.. lack of proper servicing.. (like most cars really)

it's a great car and quick... looks good too.

I have noticed a 2011 saloon STI come up for reasonable money close to me, did these cars suffer the same engine issues? There is no mention of a rebuilt engine in the advertisement but it's nearby and possibly worth a look if they didn't suffer the same issues.
