I belive has 2 cats, one in down pipe and one in centre pipe, I've not long got a 3" Hayward and Scott turbo back with sports cat (down pipe only), other cat replaced with stright through center pipe, its a 3 piece system down pipe, center and back box will be getting it all fitted in two weeks

i think the centre pipe is a resonator/silencer it seems to depend on what you read and from where , the one i took off mine looks much more resonator rather than cat , ... but whatever it is loose it for a straight through , better noise better spool better flow
#65
when you get rid of the centre section to a straight through pipe no remap needed , a sports cat in the down pipe will need a remap , but it has little benefit on the fsti , it drives better with standard cat in the downpipe , only good side is more turbo noise
#66
ye that' true to be fair only need the map when changing the down pipe with a sports cat so center must just be a resonate, I'll be getting mine mapped when fitted, also got some other parts going in at same time, it will flow better with a sports cat as it's a 100 cell so not as restrictive

If so what did you need to write to them exactly?
That's very good to know
@ Skye, get onto subaruforester.org under the european section.

I had a battle with the dvla over this , they went on the emissions due to the information on the build report , they started at around 500£ and went down to 300 , but they would not go lower , if you are saying 245 £ or so how did you manage that and is it some thing i can still do , i was happy at least they reduced it 200£ or so

The Dvla have a habit of charging you as much as they can , until you point out that the car was made pre 2006 and it’s been imported after 2006 , that’s why mine was reduced , you can get some iva build reports showing no co figure and then the tax is lower , but most reports now seem to show the co , if no co shown then lucky owner

FSTis emit more than 298 g/km so they belong either in band K (if manufactured before 23rd March 2006) or L or M if manufactured after 23rd March 2006.
So yes, the word 'registered' in the above mentioned pdf is wrong and should be replaced with 'manufactured'.

as a jdm import you have a better chance of getting the lower tax rate but it depends on the importer and which paperwork he uses for the iva importing side of things , as above dvla we’re changing me tax based on what date it was imported into the uk rather than its build date which was a bit cheeky , i heard that they can refund the tax if they over tax you i can’t remenber if i got any tax back , the reality is it’s expensive running a car insurance servicing tax maintenance etc so it’s one of those things , i have a 6.2 litre 2010 van and that’s the cheapest to tax of the lot of them lol
