really be arsed to argue the toss with them about it with them plus I don' really want another set of chocolate pistons.

Congratulations for being different, so many people fall away into the masses and wash their hands on Subaru.
Good luck with your build

lol yes I can believe that . I thought this problem was now sorted ?? I have a 2008 sti and know these were risky cars to own. mines still going strong so I think pistons in mine may be ok, after all this time. I live in hope anyway .....

Built right 2.5 is a fantastic engine, problem is its not built right from the factory

I don't intend to built a monster of a car as project wagon is being done at the moment which will be a beast.😁

complete rethink on there part concerning the pistons and the silicon content of the alloy.
there piston tolerances are far to tight aswell.
so many of these engines have let go over the Yeats for mainly the same problem so you would have thought subaru would have looked into it by now.

Just for information.
You've admitted what you've fitted as a modification on an open forum which Subaru do Monitor so any claims will be a bit hard to authorise after that.

to tell you the truth even if they offered to replace the standard pistons I wouldn't want them because of the known failures with the ring lands.
ringland failure after only 6500 miles.come on subaru you can't say that there isn't a problem with these. it would only be a matter of time before they go again of which i wouldn't be comfortable with.
I'd rather pay for my own builtd with decent pistons with a realistic clearance .
2.5 sti pistons strong=yes
brittle=absolutely
if anyone from subaru is reading this then I am willing to send you the failed piston so you can carry out any metrology tests if your interested.
engine has just come out today and there's loads of oil in the intercooler/exhaust and breather system it's a right mess.
will post a pic of the offending piston as soon as it's out.
thanks

subaru have known from the word go about the filter so I've got no problem with that but it was recommended by the dealer I bought the car from at the time.

latest is that the engine is stripped and has been examined and this is the outcome
1.fueling ok
2. no sign of any det
3. #2 bore is scored and slightly oval
so subaru UK what's your excuse for supplying an engine where the bores are oval??

slight possible issue there because of a air filter but I think that's rather irrelevant considering there is most likley a manufacturers defect of which they can't say wasn't known but just ignored.
someone said subaru UK watch this site so I am very surprised that I've heard nothing from them or are the just burying there heads in the sand yet again.

well the latest is subaru have been a bunch of tossers and don't want to even contribute to it so as far as I am concerned they can go **** themselves.
apart from that I have now got a decent engine thanks to Andy Williams with forged mahle pistons ,11mm stud kit and acl bearings.
