Another day off for the teachers!

It is in anticipation of getting snow well there is no guarantee we will get any so why make the decision so early when we might not even get any. The primary school for example said it will make the decision by 7.30 in the morning which is the sensible thing to do :rolleyes;

Not my or police laws! And you can't seriously suggest that all teachers live out in the country? If they do, they must all be on a nice wage then.
How come every other profession is expected to come in to work? And I can't recall having schools closed due to snow when I was at school.
So, all the teachers have to do is phone in and say "I can't make it in today" and the response is - close the school!
Why don't the teachers just - set off a bit earlier?
Or why can't the school contact local supply teachers to cover? Why can't the headteachers step up and manage?
No - too easy to just close the school. Make the rest of us pay a fortune in emergency child cover.
We will end up with teachers doing the same in the summer when they fancy a bit of time off - Oh wait, they have the summer off anyway.

Such as comments above, to be honest, its a worry you can not see them.
May-be thats why you should seek help....
I can only assume being a police officer over the years has made you what you are now, bitter.
The ones a know and talk to will tend to understand what seams best for the cummunity in our area,(believe it or not will help out if possible),you could try that it may relieve some of the bitteress, they NOT will talk down to you, would certainly NOT spout out their offensive comments verbally as you do on a public forum.
You come over as the quintessential policeman that, once in uniform is you are going to be HIS own worse enemy.
(the one we all love to hate).
YOU REALLY ARE IN THE WRONG PROFESSION, OFFENSIVE AND A DISGRACE TO THE PEOPLE YOU SUPPOSABLE SERVE.
I can but hope your superiors suss you out as the bad apple you are......

Felix, I'm unsure if you are on a wind-up, but if you believe what you have written, you really are talking shoite.
I mentioned the cost of agency staff...you then thought they'd be a good idea?
So...on the above ONLY:
1. How would you feel about the school having to lose a teacher to pay for the agency staff they took on to keep your kids in childcare when staff couldn't get in due to road closures etc?
2. Those agency staff don't all live in a building attached to a school awaiting work, you know. THEY would have the SAME travel problems as the teachers...road closures. And guess who closes the roads? Yep...your lot, and the stupid council, who then condemn schools for NOT staying open.
3. On the one hand yoiu say it's about education, yet you then say headteachers should combine classes, etc. THAT would be easy to EDUCATE anyone instead of just babysitting. I mean 60 kids in a lab? or 90 in a classroom? Or maybe a hundred or so in the hall? All gainfully employed? Aye, right.
PS: loved your assertion that you'd be able to deal with recalcitarnt kids.
Not without a van load of coppers, public order fines and locking them up, you wouldn't.
You REALLY ought to give it a try. Go on, ask your bosses if you can shadow a teacher in a comprehensive school for a week. It used to be done...and those doing the shadowing went away chastened.

I ask again - which comments do you find offensive....?
I am asking the question why do all the schools now feel the need to close - where the other day some shut and others stayed open? I apologise if this seems to be an offensive question, but I am asking the question.
You also state that the reason was for pupil safety as their parents would drive them all to school and they would be safety issues on the roads with children being dropped off at the school's door by parents. I ask the question why does this not appear to be an issue in times of heavy rain when there are just as many parents driving their kids to school. I would also suggest if there is an issue in the snow to this that most of the kids walk to school in any case - and the 'nose to tail' queues would prevent any serious injury in any case. I again apologise if this question appears to be offensive towards you.
Why can they say that we will close the school 'just in case' in areas where not a snowflake has fallen? Again, I don't believe that this question is too offensive for you?
And I do help in he community in times like this, we cleared the compound so we could get the police cars in and out - didn't just shut up shop and say - 'sorry the snow prevents us from going out toady'. Pushing cars to get people going, jump starting them etc etc
Where have i been "OFFENSIVE AND A DISGRACE TO THE PEOPLE I SUPPOSABLE SERVE."

And its nothing to do with 'childcare' - its about education.

Even with help from NHS sevices who were clearing local doctors surgery
car park.
We did get a well done for our sterling efforts, on our social media page,so at least it should be back to normal come monday...if we get no more snow.
On more sour note, As we all sat drinking coffee and planning for Monday (should) we get more snow!!!.
I happen mention some of your comments on how schools go about their procedures in these conditions and indeed showed them your posts, to say there was an eruption of shock to most of your posts would be an under statement!!!!!.
As these derogatory comments were coming from a Professional serving police officer!.
I would like bring your comments to the attention of a senior officer, so he/she may offer a statement, as to if said comments are expectable.
Would you be willing to sent me the relative details?.
Thank you
in antiicpation.

I can't see anything offensive?
Schools didn't seem to close so often for snow when I was a kid.
What's wrong with being p1ssed about the complete lack of consistency and what seems to be double standards with regards when kids can and cannot be out of school? Worth questioning, even if nowadays in some cases it might be better to not have some people out on the roads taking their kids to school as the parents are a safety hazard at the best of times.
