I dont understand why you couldnt just run an aftermarket IAT sensor and wire it into the pin which would be used for IAT on the MAF, rescale and tweak to suit. Least then the car would be able to see post-cooler readings that way and act upon it should they be high.

 

Why change the sensor location and recalibrate since the ECU already compensates?

There are more than one ways to skin a cat.

 

The temperature being read at the MAF isn't accurate in the sense that it doesn't compensate for heat soak or passing through the intercooler and into the throttle body, which is pretty much what the final temp is going to be before it enters the engine. When retaining a TMIC, heatsoak temps will be greater than what's seen at the MAF.

Also if the MAF itself gets hot sitting in the engine bay it's obviously going to give mixed readings too and differ from the final temp.

Yea but it’s charge temps you really want to be reading on decent power cars as obv the cooler we can get our cars the better .if your scaling the maf your altering the parameters anyway so your goin to see difference in AIT if that’s what your looking for .
If your into heavily modifying playing with charge temps to get the result you want can be fun ( expensive , but fun lol

 

Best fit a proper IAT sensor in appropriate location,

Good fuel and intercooler setup should be enough for most,

Run straight Methanol with no cooler AFP style

Or go nuts and start adding ice boxes etc.

The gains from just a fuel blend alone are not to be sniffed at,

20% Bio-Ethanol i gained easy 10% torque

 

Don't get me started on trying to reduce inlet temps lol
