Thursday Night, Knockhill. (20th July)

Mac,
we are looking for a place that has lots of parking, serves food and drinks (though most of us will be driving), isn't too busy on a Wednesday evening, and is reasonably central for people coming from the north, west and south of the city.

Yes, another great night. Far better weather than my Lotus 111S test drive yesterday. Plenty passenger laps in Lotus and Subaru cars and also a load in one of the TVRs. All were different but all realy enjoyable. Plenty of in car video to go through. Used a monopod for the first time to steady in car shots and that seems to have made an improvement. Finshed off the night trying out my bullet camera mounted on my towing eye socket, and suction mounted camcorder around the track for the last 15 minutes on my Elise. It looks as if I will be able to edit some nice footage togther. Will update when I get some time to go through them. Should get some nice stills from the video as well.
Thanks John for your help tonight, much appreciated. Will hopefully get around to a passenger lap with you and the other John sometime, ran out of time tonight. Looking forward to July, August and September Knockhill sessions and of course the Kames double header. Will look into the Isle of Man holiday so might well make it over for that. Never been there before and heard it is realy good. It depends on how suitable it will be for my 3 year old (she will have just turned 4 by then) to come with me.
Cheers Iain

Great Evening Apologies to anyone who was behind me (Red Sylva)when I was continually missing gears !! TUT was one, Yellow Westfield was another !
The car was built for disabled use. Must get that hand control conversion completed ASAP.
I could have done with 3 hands for gears, steering and brake controls
Nice to see those very fresh Silver Scoobys of Scoty and Alan G getting some stick

I'd just like to thank everyone for turning up yesterday, and making it a very enjoyable evening at Knockhill.
Makes all the work organising these events worth while, when you see so many smiling faces around the pit-lane

John S,
You are too modest; Well done for another terrific SIDC meet. Take a bow! Never thought it would turn out so good as we battered through the rain on the way down, but well worth the journey.
Sorry I didn’t make the curry, but the temptation of the run home on the back roads with Tut and Scotty in those damn Elise’s was too great. Had big grin at KH and big grin home via everywhere on the East Coast I think. We took several wrong turnings and covered many more miles than we should have, but hell, it was a rare night and the company was great. Like following two ping-pong ***** up the bloody road; darting all over the road and sometimes more, eh Scotty....Parted company with Tut at the BP garage in Inverurie at 11pm; hope you got home safe and "Twis a good run over the Cairn" as you would say.
Glad to meet up the old bunch and the few new people that I did get a chance to meet, but hopefully will meet more the next time.
Was that Dave Brown in the white Evo? Last time I saw you where in the White Scoob! Is it still alive? PG; Success with the down pipe.
Thanks again to John & Neil.

Have to agree with Jools on this John - another great evening organised well by yourself and I can only say that there was not one dissapointed face all night (except for the silver TVR Chimera owner with the engine probs)
Looks like I'll be offshore for the next one in July - whats after that?

As ever John, a well organised and very enjoyable SIDC trackday, brilliant weather, and I did not see one red flag whilst I was out, and only a couple of yellows. And I got through a tankful of fuel in the two hours, so did not miss much.
As per Jools, I fancied a trip home via the backroads, and though I would have liked to have stayed for a curry, I would have probably been fighting to stay awake on the A90.
Great run back with Jools and Scotty, or Burns and Schuey as I now call them, but never listen to Jools when he tells you he knows the back roads from Kirriemuir to Edzel, as he had done them a few days before. We ended up doing the Clova dead end loop, or at least half of it before I managed to stop them.
Even without the Indian twas 1130 before I got home, and I made the BP S/S on fumes.
Stu Grey knobbled me at the end of the session with an event that he would like to lay on, so talk to you about it off line. Came about because of all the private club events that are organised, the SIDC and tt ones are the ones he likes best, so he would like to build on them.

Have some stills from Video taken on Thursday night but can't get the link to upload.turbosport thingy working. Was fine last time I used it. Could somebody please post working URL for it, or any alternative site for uploading them.
Thanks Iain

No replies on my upload.turbosport quastion so have uploaded photos to a webshots album. These stills are all taken from the video cameras mounted at various places on the car and also on some of the passenger laps I had in Lotus, Subaru and TVR cars.

I have also uploaded some photos of the cameras and mounts used for the above photos at the follow webshots album.

Also some of the new Lotus Elise 111S at Knockhill on the Wednesday which I know some people on here attended.

Will get around to editing the video views into a finished video soon. The rear mounted side view video came out realy well, though the sound was crap but the an internal mike picked up better sound so will figure out how to use that.
Hopefully Kames will be dry this time and will try the new Video setup there at the end of the month.
Cheers everybody for passenger rides or offers, and especially to John Stewart for his assitance.
