[QUOTE=Dr Hu;12066605]Is Jeremy Corbyn unelectable - I think so...
If Labour had put up a decent leader they should of been a much stronger contender in this GE.
I actually (sort of) agree with some of Labours policies - I think certain limited 'national infrastructure' industries should be nationalised - Post Office/Royal Mail, Water, Rail etc
But I also think that the Tories 10 years of rampant decline of money for Local Councils and the determined Austerity policies leading to huge decline in normal daily/local life cannot be tolerated for much longer by most people.
There doesn't seem to be a middle ground anywhere - I've never voted Labour in my life, but I can sympathise with a (few!) of their policies - but the Corbyn/Abbot dream team - no fcuking way...[/QUOTE]
No effective opposition has been a big reason we have been in such a mess for the last three years...if he an iota of genuine concern for the country he would step down and allow a more palatable leader to take the reigns. However just like the elder Milliband he cares more about his career than the county's well being. David Milliband would have been elected in 2015 and then that **** Cameron wouldn't have torn the country asunder.

Its quite interesting looking at the details of the Labour manifesto. His sweeping economic reforms, when you dig into the details and ignore the press hype and scaremongering, actually look a lot like the French, German and Scandinavian economies! They are really not so radical and not so scary, it is merely introducing social responsibility into the free market economy.
In the UK, since Thatcher in the 80's, we've gone down this ever more American route of pure capitalism, driving for profit and growth above all else and forgetting to look after the important things in life. The result is continued boom and bust cycles, a debt driven society and decreasing levels of social care. The European economies, put social care much more at the forefront, discourage debt, and encourage a "make hay while the sun shines" approach of saving during the good times to ease the ride in the bad times rather than pursuing outright growth. Its funny reading the UK press comments on economic growth in other EU countries and how the economy is stagnant and not seeing the boom that the UK is having. What you don't hear though is how the 2008 crash barely dented the German economy, it just continued unstoppably on, not really growing, not really contracting, just working!
Many of Corbyn's ideas are actually very sound, some are maybe a little bit too far - free broadband is daft, but privatising the network infrastructure so you can push out broadband to rural areas which a private company will never do, is a pretty sound idea! The problem is the UK has had this idea of "pure capitalism is best" so ingrained, that any divergence from that is made to sound radical and dangerous, when in reality, it's probably not that bad.
If Corbyn is un-electable because of that, then it's not because he is somehow radical, but the UK population are scared of such a different strategy from what they are used to. Which kind of confuses me how they are so willing to accept the risk of a no deal Brexit and the drastic economic changes in the direction of pure capitalism and less social responsibility that would bring, yet a similar change in the direction away from pure capitalism and towards more social responsibility is considered outright lunacy!
You should also remember, who is set to benefit and lose by each strategy. Brexit will benefit the elites at the cost of the ordinary public, while Corbynism will benefit the ordinary public at the cost of the elites. The elites should be rightly worried about Corbyns policies, while the ordinary public should celebrate them. Then ask yourself who controls the majority of the British press, elites or ordinary people? Is Rupert Murdoch an ordinary person or an elite? Then ask yourself why there is so much negative press about Corbyn and so much positivity about Johnson and maybe you can start to wonder if there are some evil forces at work here trying to discredit Corbyn? Is he a racist? Is he a terrorist sympathiser? Is he a Marxist/Communist? Or is he just a socialist and pacifist with an idea for an alternative future that would be better for everyone?
Now, I'm certainly not a socialist, and I don't really support him, I'm much more in the middle ground with a slight leaning to the right, but I can accept him for what his is and can see through the media smoke screen and general smear that is put in his direction! Sadly with the UK two party system, its BJ or JC who is going to win, and given those two choices, I'd certainly lean more towards JC! Steering the ship back towards Europe and away from the USA for a while, would certainly do the UK a lot of good in the long term IMHO!

Just looked up the candidates standing in my seat - I can only vote Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem or Green
The seat has been a safe Tory seat since the war!!
Conservatives posted over 50% more votes than the next nearest candidate (Tory 30k, Labour 12k, Lib Dem 1k, Green 512)
So its fairly safe to say that any vote not Conservative is a complete & utter waste of time!

This is why the FPTP system just doesn't work and millions of peoples votes across the country count for nothing! Still, better adding one to the opposition vote than not voting at all! Maybe if there is an uprising in your constituency, your vote will make a difference.
Another quirk of FPTP is if you live is a seat with a large population, your vote counts less than if you live in a seat with a low population. Its high time we had a proportional representation system so that everybody's votes count equally!

Never thought I’d find myself so close to agreement with him during that first sound bite. Displaying a bit of empathy instead of the normal rhetoric too. I wonder if he has hanged tactics.

Fix: in the quote tag, remove the semcolon and number that appears after the =username bit and delete any of the funny broken image characters and it seems to quote correctly! Bit of a PITA though!

Have found this problem to appear on most browsers in different forms and be down to using the CKeditor "advanced" editor option.
Reverting to the Basic editor has, for now, resolved my problems with it

I've always had a lot of respect for Michael Heseltine and Ken Clark way back to the Thatche days. They have always put the country before party politics.
For an old school Tory like Heseltine to endorse the Lib Dems over the Conservative party really tells you what a mess the Tory party is in!

I personally can't stand Piers Morgan, but this is a great interview with Nicky Morgan trying to explain that there really will be 50,000 more nurses, despite there only being 31,000 new nurses and 19,000 nurses who will be persuaded to not leave the NHS - because, you know, persuading someone not to leave is just the same as employing a new person

Corbyn car crash on Andrew Neil
Refused 6 times to apologize to the Jews
Refused to say how the £60bn would be found to pay for the 'Waspi' women. A bit like the empty promises of free university education for all in the UK
Don't see that being mentioned anywhere.
promise everyone everything, until somebody questions the details.
