as far as i am aware the jdm sf forester sti was a 2 litre , being jap they probably did an auto version , the jdm sg forester sti 2004 to 2007 was a 2.5 , less stressed than a sti impreza as it’s a smaller turbo with less boost , fun bit with the sg version very little lag and decent enough mpg

It arrives with Revision C (08/1999) ends with Revision D (01/2002)
The SG Forester STI engine is based on the EJ255 WRX and comes with not only a slightly smaller turbo (VF41) but also has softer WRX cams when compared to the Impreza STI version
It was built from the end of 2003 (revision C) through to the end of SG production in November 2007 (revision F)

SF style Forester's have some basic upgrades, seats, 4pot brakes etc. but are a very mild "STi" in comparison to a std Turbo-S
later SG Foz STi has the full new-age STi running gear, brakes, etc. but a 2.5 engine similar to the later UK Hawk STi
