How about getting the turbo rebuilt with 50-52mm compressor wheel / bigger housing as well? Or a vf48 with 50-52mm wheel.
That will get you closer to 400hp.
And with the Harvey up pipe and ported headers you probably won't notice more lag.

if going 2.35 then the point is to use the 2.2 closed deck as its a proper fully closed deck not a converted 2.5 one so a lot stronger

iv sold one (yes a genuine 22b block) in the past ,, he still has it in his car running over 650bhp now ,,, and the question was what cars did they come in not what ones would be for sale

There is no difference between a CDB 2.2 and a converted CDB 2.5 in terms of the closed deck part of the Block - thought that with your experience of the Subaru marque you would be aware of that.

there is a difference , one is a converted block and as such is considered weaker as it has more points it can fail at , ie the conversion plates moving is one that the fully closed deck wouldn't suffer from as its one cast piece

Who considers it weaker?? Never heard of a CBD Insert fitted into a 2.5 fail due to an inherent weakness or due to a weak point in the conversion inducing a failure....
If I didn't know better I would assume you had some 2.2 Blocks too sell as owners of such are the only winners in the above post of "scaremongering" about CBD Inserts.
Hopefully Alyn or some of the other experts who designed and produce these inserts will chime in with a more technical perspective?

Care to elaborate on where and how the Insert would fail???

nope I dont have any 2.2 parts for sale at all and having built a 500+ 2.5 I know what the limits of them are compared to the 2.0 and 2.2 ,,, iv been around long enough to see these converted blocks have issues,,, like still getting slight cylinder movement due to the high boost levels as the inserts dont completely hold the cylinders like the original does
the conversion plates dont create as strong a block as the proper closed decks ,, the fact that they are one cast piece makes it a lot stronger as any points of contact that have been converted by the added plate can fail
id like to see the argument that these 2.5 blocks are stronger than original closed deck 2.0 or 2.2

Hi everyone
Coming late to this thread and fairly new to this. Maybe a daft question but are the results quoted all BHP, or are some maybe WHP depending on the dyno? I知 in a similar position to OP, I知 looking for a reliable fast spooling 400 BHP and 400 + lbs ft. And I知 just wondering if some of the turbos quoted are actually making that easily?
Another one I致e been looking at is the new Cobb TD05H 20G 8. Does anyone know anyone with any experience of it? I like the US prices!!
UK wise, I知 erring towards the SC38. I reckon that with bigger injectors and an uprated TMIC and splitter, we壇 get my target numbers. (its a 2.5 hawk, CDB, fully forged, full decat, uprated fuel pump etc). No mention on the website though of a guarantee, unlike other suppliers. Is it a good reliable turbo?
thanks
