Adam, It was mapped by Steve Cotton who fitted all the parts (Cotton Competition) I do know he had problems mapping wise. Firstly he was going to use Ecuteck but couldnt get that to work so stayed with the carberryRom software that it was already running. However it was the first time he had used Carberry so that doesnt fill me with confidence. He did say he would fettle the map, but just not sure i want to go back.
Had another drive this afternoon to try and pinpoint what was bugging me, i have narrowed it down to the throttle sensitivity , its a bit like a switch when trying to drive slowly, as if the throttle cable is sticking.

Other than that issue its grown on me alot today , it does feel rapid no doubt about that. I spoke to Cams Performance today about possibly taking it there this week for a Dyno and remap, its just another £400 quid and 2 days without the car again.

@Nelzsti It does sound like a mapping thing and if he isn't well versed with the software, I'd be dubious about taking it back too. I will share my experience, I spent around £7.5k getting mine done and was bitterly disappointed after the first dyno map and then subsequent 2nd road map that Duncan did! It also only made 430bhp with that map. I spent £400 taking it to Bob Rawle and it was honestly the best thing I did because it allowed me to enjoy the car again. He also managed to find an additional 30hp in there!

I understand your frustration at first not having the car for so long and then getting it back and not enjoying it. Have you thought about taking it to scooby clinic? They're not a million miles from you and have the set up to check every thing and tweek the map if needed.

I called Scooby Clinic today as like you say not a million miles away, but they said they cant work with Carberry Rom. Not sure whats involved moving to ecuteck but a while ago they were trying to sell me a new ECU, so dont fancy that right now.

A also called Pole Position in Wolverhampton as there the ones that refurbed the motor not to long ago, but there booked for a while and there rolling road is out of action ect.

I think your right though i need to bite the bullet and get it mapped by a pro, so where does this Bob Rawle chappy work out off?

250 rpm isnt a bad sacrifice for the gains but it gets worse the larger turbo you go for.
Ive got a sc42 on my 2.5 300ftlbs at 3400rpm

Bob is in Swindon. Bit of a trek!! There’s also TDR in Warwick. The clinic kept trying to sell my mate a link recently, he actually had a dodgy injector so wouldn’t of fixed his problem. I’ve never been there just thought it was pretty close to you. Bob is 3 hours from me but worth the trip.

yeah it’s forged with a front mount and ported headers made 433bhp. It drives lovely. Plods around town below 3k happily. And anything about 4k and boost is instant. I am thinking about a meth map next 🤔

Yeah I guess it would don’t know if you’d notice it on the road. But id happily loose that couple of thousand rpm to keep the subaru burble.

What is the best stock location modern turbo, I thought the golden standard was the SC42 but someone on a different thread said they were using old technology and there are other turbos that surpass them. I know its slightly off topic.

The sc's gets updated spec wise very regularly so depends what they are referring too, its a very opinionated subject with little verified fact. I know cars that have performed better on back to backs with sc42 than even in fabled owens specials. Very rare you see a true back to back to find out.

But even if the concept of the tech was slightly older Cars have had 4 wheels for years, does that make them old technology so not good?

SC stopped the SC42 some time ago, they do an SC42+ now, its a 450hp capable turbo according to them.

The SC are blouch with a 7cm housing anyone who thinks they have their own custom wheel size is delusional.

Borg EFR are up there with the best.

The new G-Series Garret too if sized correctly

If you want the best responce a twin scroll is the way forward.

Pretty sure the Blouch/SC are based off old gen 1 garrett tech & gen 2 has been out for quite some time.

You must be delusional then cause square peg and round hole springs to mind. I suspect a 8cm wheel wouldn't fit in a 7cm housing so the spec and size of the wheel must be different.

The wheel size has nothing to do with the exhaust housing size (confusingly).

The exhaust size is the size of the exhaust flow path into the turbine wheel, but the turbine wheel is the same size, if that makes sense

Disagree all you want, the facts are you can spec the turbo with whatever size housing you wish. Within reason.

7cm,8cm,10cm.....
