The sensor on the right is the original faulty sensor which has been on the car since 2004, the part number is more visible than the one from ebay

You beat me to it, I see them on Alibaba also for around 10usd

How do they get away with this? when I seen Subaru and Denso on the items I thought they had to be genuine

Thought these companies would be too big to mess with

Finding out the sort of thing below was my bread and butter at Tyco, we were always being ripped off , and even sued for stuff going wrong we hadn't even made !!

Its rampant , and all the PRC Army officers drive the biggest Mercedes , So yeh yeh lets go after them shall we , All you can do is try to identify an OEM original equipment manufacturer like Denso and go to the web site and buy from them.

If all that shocked you take a look at this , *Here is actually where your "interesting part" came from. Originally !! A clock spring manufacturer !! Trading in car parts sine 2011 ( wow that's 6 years younger than your cars age )

https://autorongyuan.en.made-in-china.com/product/aSPnKfUrsXYq/China-192400-2042
"We are happy to make sample for you to check the quality, provide one..." for us to copy

I can say that because the crimping and engraved code is wrong on the sleeve stock, And while Its just not easy enough / effective for companies like Ruian Rongyuan to follow Denso coding for all variations that Denso have to make to protect themselves
even to identify own goods and continue their own supply of original quality qualified spares.

Trouble is the sensor itself "might" technically work , but you never know how well , or for how long. Then when it does unscrupulous nature of all nation traders takes over and suddenly they are all OEM parts ...

Copy products are not considered a crime in PRC you will see in the above Photo they do not use Subaru labels , all that sort of thing "repackaging" goes on at the middle men ( and they all drive Mercedes as well , sometimes its the same one ) Ahhh
You find the very same cars too in the hotel car park (always watched) and the owners staying late "on the same floor" as the long noses lay , using night time room service.

Nothing surprises me , Id worked in the Pearl River Delta area getting stuck in Bicycle Jams in Donguan City ( can't happen now) lived in New territories HK thru 93-96 prior 97 handover period.

But understand you can't stop it ,nor influence it, you can only partially avoid it , the PRC economy now drives us not the way around. Our time to do that has gone for good...

In fairness a lot of the adverts on Ali Express do actually state the sensors are made in China and are a different brand to Denso. Only the pictures would insinuate otherwise which still isn't exactly honest but better than just outright lying. The real problem comes when people start selling them as the genuine article.
