Yeah just ignore the troll ![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
The STI’s are great cars, drive one and then you’ll know for yourself if it’s worth the change and money or not
Half the fun is in shopping around, trying different ones and improving them in your own way. I enjoyed the WRX’s I’ve driven, if it was my main car it’d be perfect for me but that doesn’t fit everyone.

Just noticed this thread and thought I'd chip in that I ~might~ be selling my bug sti next year. I've not made my mind up yet. Bought it completely standard and I've owned it for 10 years and done a few subtle mods, looked after it pretty well and its never let me down. Its a great car.
Wrxs are fine but they don't compare, there are a lot of differences. Personally, I would say if its what you want - I would try and swap to one while you still can (I'm sure you've seen its getting harder and harder to find decent stis with the 2.0l engine at sensible money), rather than sinking money modding a wrx to bring it to sti spec as by the time you are finished with the hassle and cost you will have spent more than you would have done trading up and still be left with a car that in reality is probably not really going to appreciate in value. Well looked after newage stis whatever bodywork style will never go down in price now, values will stay firm and probably only go one way from here.
I've recently had to have the rear arches, strut towers and cills professionally sorted at a pretty large expense (majority of imprezas getting to this sort of age will need work here now or soon - if they haven't already been done or lived a very pampered life in a garage).
I'm not 100% yet and it won't be any time too soon if I do (as it does depend a lot on whether I can get the money together to buy what I want next). Thought I wouid mention as bug stis are pretty few and far between (especially ones that aren't really ropey) if you do have your heart set on one.
If I end up putting it up for sale it will be toward the 'cheaper end' of what 2.0l newage sti's are on the market for but it won't be 7k though thats for pretty certain, regardless of what the other chap on this thread or anyone else says. Thats not realistic, just look at prices of other older jap stuff and the way prices in general are going. For sure I would just keep hold of it at that money, I've not seen a 2.0l sti for sale at that level in a fair while. The only bug sti on pistonheads for sale at the moment is 19k!
(that is not realistic)
Mine also has a uk300 spoiler which I added (plus the standard low level one). The main reason I decided to get one is that its only 4 bolts so a straight swap for the low level without needing a new boot lid or holes drilled.

Ah yea hit me up if you decide to sell. I will probably still be debating what to do in 6 months.
i am weirdly starting to like the idea of the estates, might go look at the one at rasp even though they cant be trusted.
Ok so who has a prodrive wing spoiler to sell me?
Also i need roof rails to transport my bike.

Sure, I'll give you all the details first If it does go for sale. It depends on a few things over coming months. I'm toying with the idea of a 2 seater if the right thing comes along in the new year. I would like to keep the Impreza in the garage too.... bit dependant on what I spend but I can't actually see myself being able to justify/afford both.
You mentioned that there was a trader selling a Prodrive spoiler for £400, to be fair that is probably about right, especially if the paint colour is right for you and it is in good condition. I've just spent £200 getting my spoiler resprayed as it was bubbling and the laquer was peeling off.
Saying that, have a look on ebay there is one for £250.
