ok , a bit of interest at last!
sunday 4th august, elvington airfield Nr york. 7.30-9.30am entry for competitors. 10 am onwards for spectators.
http://www.trackdayplus .com

driving license and usual scrutineering and sign on, all cars to be road legal etc. any grade of fuel is ok, nitrous allowed. road legal tyres, e marked type only.

insurance- you will have to sort your own, be advised it is a specific Timed event, your normal insurance is unlikely to cover you, saying that its not a mass trackday with 30-40 cars out in one go. there will be two cars on the drag strip together, and one out on the timed sprint circuit, at any one time.

hope to receive those entry forms v soon
rgds and thanks
chris

ps no offence taken over the max power thingy!

D8UGF The wording of my original post was considered, having previously read 200PlusClubs much more eloquent posts and observing the lack of response.
Strangely this more controversial wording would appear to have provoked a more positive response.
I notice from your original abusive and subsequent replies that you soon back off when faced with criticism.
I maintain that the thrust of the opening argument was indeed correct if slightly OTT to emphasize the point but was not abusive.

i'm quite interested in this, but want some more info. What sort of scoob do you need? Does it have to be a monstered up 300BHP+ beast or will a standard uk turbo do? Do you need to have a spare set of tyres etc. or is it safe just to take your normal car?

Do you need special insurance for this and if so where can i get it?

I find it is best to have this kind of info before trying to convince the mrs that we should go!

I was interested in this before, but the fact that it is called 'Ten of the best' put me off as i know there are hundreds of scoobs that are faster than mine!

Back off due to criticism, who from? The only criticism I got
was regarding my initial tongue in cheek post. I too am not a
fan of these "I caned a Ferarri" posts but then again I dont
appreciate posts like your initial one inferring that we all
talk a good game but dont walk one, as your topic header implies.
When I first joined this bbs I read for a while then finally posted a reply to a fairly inane thread, I did not come straight on
and try to p1ss of the other people on the board.
If your initial post was to gain some notice for the forthcoming event then you have succeded.
Chris had already made the point that it was going to be a well
organised event for enthusiasts of various cars to test their vehicles against one another so it did not require you to wind people up with your thread.
Ps Your apology about the post being OTT is accepted

Despite Rich's comments, if you want to take part just do so - I am

PTMW! has only a PPP as a performance mod, not even an air filter or Dawes device. Therefore, I'll be running, what, 250bhp/250ftlb?

I am going to get pasted by 99% of the cars running that day & do you know what? I don't care 'cos it'll be a giggle & I'll have a nice day out & meet a load of good people & get to be part of it

There is of course a handling element to the day too, so prehaps I'll be able to make up some of the lack of HP there & put in a (slightly) better result. It's not all about going fast in a straight line

Anyhow, when it comes down to the lights on the strip, that "supposed" 400bhp might not be there & the other person might bog on the start & you'll get it spot on & win

It's not the winning, its the taking part

well said that man!

please do not think you must have 300+bhp just to take part, or be able to win, its not about that, its an opportunity for each club or group to get some members cars together, to compare against themselves and others, and also have fun. individuals who have also apporached me have secured places with suitable cars, if they do not belong to a club.
there are some mega cars going , thats true, but there are also some std or slightly modded cars going, ie 220bhp rover turbos, rs turbos etc, its not all about power, handling also will feature.

additionally it will be a chance for the mega power boys n girls to go head to head, without massive queues, and for people to see it happen. yes some power "claims" will be disputed, and may be shown to be just that on the day!

we now have 3 scoobs paid up (one chq bounced, but a new one has been promised by sender!)
therefore 7 places left, std to massively modded, dont worry just step forward!

-in reply to other questions
you wont need a new set of tyres unless you stay on handling course all day and scrub yours off.
insurance- you could try, i doubt you would get it for a timed sprint event, but bear in mind there is one car out at a time (ie you) on a coned course. unlikely to get damage occuring unless you do something totally stupid.
the head to head drag runs are done away from there, and again 2 cars out max. finally only one car completes the top speed runs at a time.
therefore barring massive bad luck there will be less chance of damage than a normal trackday. if worried though you should consult a specialised insurer who may take it on. prob £80-150 for a day cover if you can get it.
we have liability cover, for public etc, but all competitors do have to sign the usual disclaimer as at all trackdays and sprint events.

hope that explains

Rich A and Puff: Thanks guys, if you read my post i did not necessarily say mine was a standard impreza! it is not too far off though

200plusclub: 'unlikely to get damage occuring unless you do something totally stupid.' nice one! now i am jinxed
Was just wondering if it was required or not. I am also not in a car club as such, unless you call scoobynet a club Hope that is ok. I think i might enter for a laugh, if just to see what the top end speed of my car is.

Heh! Heh!

Confirmed receipt of cheque & if it bounces then I'm un-employed anyway

Right, so who else?

JF? You gonna be there? Hope so, would be nice.

Any more for any more? Howabout some of these STi7 thingys that get 300+ BHP with a full de-cat? C'mon, you know you want to

Also, as an added bonus, by entering means that you can go & wind up the other clubs ATM, threads on EVO Site & RSOC site (which has the benefit of doing the Cossies & the RSTs at the same time!!).

You know you want to & if I can, anyone can

yep, i will be there, i printed my entry form off tonight at work as i still havent got an ink cartridge at home.

Based on the antics at castle combe on wednesday, i dont think mellow and I have much to worry about on the handling track, these STi5 Type RA V-Limited's are superb, especially on a short run before you start melting the tyres.

Mellow will do me on the power stakes as mine in bogo standard 280BHPish to his fully mapped Gems FMI jobbie, i should do him on finesse if the handling track is tight though.
