i always liked the golf r , it’s a quick car but still looks very like a standard ish golf other than a small badge and the exhausts , so a good sleeper , the older golf r 0 to 60 same as my Fsti , the newer ones are quicker , the cost of a new golf r v a used gtr not a lot in it , 3.9 seconds for the golf v 2.8 seconds in a gtr when launched , gtr just floored no launch control is slightly over 3 seconds

Evo X FQ360....mate has one....wicked car.
Not outrightly much quicker than my 342bhp Hawk STi, but did have a slight bit more quality / refinement compared to mine. Not much, but enough to feel a bit more comfortable, bigger road presence, more planted and a 5 speed box with longer range gears, helped along with the MIVEC vvt system. Similar to how I could imagine a turbocharged Type R K20 I guess.
The 6 speed STi box is crazy short....up and down it like a yoyo...

The Evo does feel better built but not by much. Doesn't help maybe that the Spec C has no deadening so will always feel a bit tinny. The GT has the RS transmission but does have some comfort features. It's an easier drive on a journey. The 5th in the Evo is noticeably taller than the 6th in the Impreza.
The Evo will be coming home shortly with a 562/525 @4400 engine and it still would not suprise me that a DSG VAG will still be quicker
But then I've driven both a Nissan GTR and Porsche 997 Turbo on one of those experience days. The GTR was clearly faster but I'm more likely to swap my JDM cars for the 997. Just felt like it wanted to kill you so that's all the reason I need to want it

gtr , best described as mental , i’ve never been in something so quick , i’ve never launched it as you don’t need to ,as it’s quick enough any way , you just floor it no lag and it goes 😂😂 off the lights to sensible legal speeds nothing gets close

the pads are 210£ for the front as they are big , that’s ebc yellowstuff , it’s 6 pot front , the discs are around 500 £ to 550£ area , they seem to last , tyres are ££ as they are run flats 255 by 20 front , 285 by 20 rears , i think some run 305 or so rears , tyre wear is quicker due to the power and acceleration wear , tracking once a year is a must , oil and filter change about the same £ as a scooby , it has carbon fibre under trays for aero dynamics so doing jobs can take longer , in theory 2 oil changes each year , in practice once a year or every 6 k miles or so , no regrets on buying it , and it’s quite nice driving an auto v manual all the time , they have paddle shifts but a human is also slower than an auto box , but it’s good for holding gears and making more noise , mines a jdm and the previous owner put 20 k £ into the car 👍mpg is around 22.5 to 24 being sensible , but who wants to do that 😁 just need to try and keep my licence , a light tickle puts you into loosing licence very quickly ☹️

I went from a Classic T 2000 to a M3 (F80), and whilst the M3 if faster in almost every aspect, potentially more fuel efficient, more comfortable, with some of the mod cons, its the Impreza which put the biggest smile on my face. It was just more engaging and more of an experience. The biggest miss is that lag and then boom, party time. Part of me wishes I'd of kept it instead of selling it for just above scrap value.
