I drove one about 3 months ago.
Nice car worth waiting for.
A std Focus has simply superb dynamics, the RS will build on this.
Different character to the pre-facelift Scooby and FWD of course.

sorry, if that is the case we should change it to biasednet.
Just cos this is scoobynet does not mean we cannot appreciate fine cars.
why does pro scooby have to equal anti non scooby cos it doesnt to me.
I have every intention of buying an RS200 and a ferrari 355 when funds allow.

I had a 1996 Probe V6 2.5 (basically an MX6 with a new set of clothes) and it wasnt a bad car to be fair. It cruised well but it didnt do twisties
. I am glad I got it new for a good price as I traded it in 1998 on my UK turbo and teh subaru dealer had a really job getting rid of it for 8K and the was mint with FFSH and 10K miles on the clock. You can buy them for a couple of 2K now. The one I had was 22.5K list price when I had mine, got a BIG supermarket discount though ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

Hi,
I'm not anti-anything, far less anti a product which isn't even on the market yet. I do have doubts about the ability of the market to support large volumes of highly priced derivatives of mass market saloons, no matter what dynamic attributes they may have.
The fact that the RS project is is still incomplete so late in the model's lifecycle , and has been often delayed would seem to suggest that Ford are also unsure of it's success in the Market.
If so, this is bad news for a small manufacturer like Subaru who are practically a single product (not even single model) company in the UK.
I am making this point with regard to the original question regarding the practical issues of buying and selling the Focus RS. I can't really see any reason why this should be a dramatically different proposition to it's class competitors.
I'm sure it will be a cracking car to drive though.

I had a Focus before the Scoob and to be honest I was dissapointed with the Scoobs steering "Feel" as the Focus steering is very direct and full of feel. Scoob ultimatly a lot faster obviously.
If they have done a good a job as they say with traction and eliminating torque steer the RS should be great. Image wise if they get an agressive WRC look out of the RS Focus I dont think that will be an issue either.
Got to drive both to get a true opinion and then way up what your getting for the money.
On the Mondeo front I have spent the last few weeks looking for a New company car with a list of below £17500 with Diesel engine for my Father in Law. We have looked round, sat in and driven everything (Almost)
. We both agreed on the Mondeo Zetec TDCi . Can't believe how quickly Ford have progressed in quality and diesel technology.

At the end of the day, it's pays ya money.
If you can, drive both on the same day. Then sit down, have a damm good think on what you want the car for.
As an FMC employee, i've only had a good look round the ST170, imho the best bit is the 6sp getrag box, other than that it's a slightly tweeked ghia for 17k.
Colleagues of mine have been working on the pre-production versions, some say fantastic, while others give it a thumbs down.
I have no doubt that when it's ready it'll be great. The question is when, coz at the moment heat is terminal!
Or wait for the cossy.
